chickadee lane.

chickadee lane - mendon ponds I buy into every bit of fresh-start optimism that January has to offer.

To kick off the new year on a peaceful note, on New Years day we went to a park nearby to where James grew up and fed the chickadees with James’s family. It involved a little bit of waiting, a good bit of bearing the cold, and the absolute thrill of patience rewarded.

We returned from our holiday traveling tour over the weekend and spent Sunday plucking away the dried up Christmassy bits to make room for fresh candles and new bulbs. We dusted the dresser tops, reorganized the book shelves, made a tidy pile of things to give away, and found places to keep a few new things. More on all of that later. For now, chickadees and a wish for a very happy new year.

I love, love, love chickadees! This may be the sweetest ever and now I want a chickadee to eat out of my hand! Happy New Year!

Beautiful photos. What a fun start to a new year. We on the other hand were stuck away from home a little longer then expected because our flight was cancelled and then the other was delayed 3 times, but we made it back home which is most important.
    Have a great week!

I love that you all stood there as still as possible, waiting for the chickadees! I have done that once before, and loved every minute of it. Hope you have a wonderful, happy 2015!

How sweet–I didn't realize chickadees would venture so close, even for seed. An act of patience is a beautiful way to begin a new year.

What gorgeous photos! Love this little adventure–my grandmother always used to take me out to feed the cardinals when I visited as a child in Pennsylvania, and I have such fond memories!

My absolute favorite trail in all of the world. We were just there but left town just as the snow started. Lovely photos!
