as you might have figured out, james and i spend a lot of time lounging on the hammock. snuggling up in the hammock, alone or with james, makes me smile no matter the time of day. the act of just resting there–being rocked to and fro–feels so luxurious, that i feel like i’m taking a mini vacation. lately i’ve been sneaking downstairs in the early morning with a hot cup of tea to get in a little lounge before the rest of the world is awake. in the evening, it’s a space for me and james to decompress–just the two of us, the hammock, and if we’re lucky, a gentle breeze. we have two very generous landlords who keep a beautiful woven hammock on our front porch for us to use to our heart’s content, but we know we won’t be here forever. i did a little searching for some hammocks that we might consider getting when we move! i’m a big fan of what i like to call blanket hammocks–they’re so comfy, and they don’t leave big red marks from the ropes! hammocks with frames scare me–i think i fell out of one too many as a kid {though admittedly this might have been more the fault of wild games of “ship” with my sisters, than the frame}.

….was just talking to my man about getting a hammock for our backyard….thanks for some great suggestions! xo
I love the top and bottom ones!
i need a hammock!!
hm you’re prob so right – the rope ones can be a little uncomfortable, but i’ve never tried any other kind of hammock.
Oh my goodness, how divine! Hammocks here in Wisconsin usually get eaten or drowned, so sad.
I really love the blanket ones that envelop you while you relax. This post makes me miss my old hammock so!
P.S. Catching up with your posts, I think that the “hammock date” is one of the cutest things I’ve seen in a long time!
Oh I wish I had a place to hang a hammock! These look perfect…one day, when we have a porch…
i love hammocks. i bought one in India like 10 years ago, but i haven’t had a place to hang it in years 🙁 still, i lug it around from house to house. someday i’ll find a home for it!
I love that last one, though at the moment I don’t have anywhere to put one. I’ve wanted one forever!
I really like the third one!
i really like the look of the second one.
growing up, my grandparents had a beach house on the outer banks, nc, and they had a hammock underneath the house, complete with a little rope so you could swing yourself. it was my favorite place to escape with a book!
Lovelovelove your hammock posts. The epitome of rest & relaxation, in my mind. Sadly, we don't have room for one even though we have front/back porches. My father refurbished an old wooden porch swing with much love for us and it gets a lot of use by the kids. Not so comfortable though. The pictures of you & your husband relaxing on your hammock make me want to trade our swing in for one!
that green hammock looks perfect! on my college campus a bunch of kids have these amazing portable hammocks that they string up on the quad during nice weather.. it’s so pleasant to see them all 🙂
