in the spirit of this very green day, i thought it would be appropriate to share a few ways that i try to be green every day (forgive me the hokeyness). so, here are four little things that i do {and i’m pretty sure that they were second nature to my great-grandmother from ireland}:
1. use cloth napkins, not paper
2. use rags, not paper towels
3. use my own bag to carry groceries, not plastic ones
4. eat local food
if she did it, we can do it.
also, here’s a cute little article about green beer drinking.
happy day!

happy happy happy for you!
la la la!
(my house does none of those things…i resolve to be greener in honor of our grandmarmar.)
i try to use my own grocery bags but i ALWAYS forget to bring them! and i have like 5 of them!!
Great tips – I always try to carry extra bags around so I don’t use plastic ones!
I’m with you on everything except the cloth napkins. That’s my next goal!
I use cloth napkins they just look better on a table!! That is how I was raised though lol
carrying your own grocery bag is so much better, because theyre bigger and they won’t rip practically ever.
will definitely be greener today! couldnt have come at a better time, as Ive decided to splurge my home of its excess!
you know what my obstacle to rags instead of paper towels is? all the gross stuff i use paper towels to clean, like mouse poop and dog poop etc. because where would i put the used rags until i did the laundry? certainly not in with the rest of my laundry.
gross. and i completely understand. we keep a little bucket by our back door. we put our dirty rags in there and when we have a little pile we do a small load just with rags. smelly dog poo might still have to be handled in a different sort of way…:)
