writing a post about leftovers probably falls into the category of things you shouldn’t bore your readers with (more on blog don’ts, here). but i’m a novice in the blog world, so we’ll blame it on that.
i adore leftovers. they are one of the things in my day that make me happiest. (yes, i’m that easy to please). but seriously, there is nothing like sitting all morning at work, plodding away on some (boring) project, growing hungrier by the minute, and then remembering come lunch time that you have the delicious remains of last night’s dinner awaiting you. oh, the satisfaction!
coming back to the u.s. after living in france was a rude awakening on a number of levels, but it was lunchtime that was the toughest to take. {“…and here is your desk. you can sit here all day and work. at lunchtime, please feel free to enjoy your limp, soggy sandwich whilst continuing to stare at your computer screen. for your drinking pleasure, we have stale coffee just down this hall.} berk! whatever happened to my two hour love affair with a tarte aux poireaux et petite salade verte?? where is the wine? where is the chocolate? damn it all.
james calls me the leftover queen since i usually call dibs on leftovers before he even knows if there are any (we’ve started to make larger-than-usual dinners so that we can both enjoy what’s left the next day. he might be coronated one of these days.)
all this to say, if lunchtime is bringing you down, pack it up! james and i found these awesome little glass containers that we use to transport our lunches. the glass isn’t supposed to leach out nasty chemicals. cheers to that! {and they’re so much prettier in the fridge than mismatched plastic. artichokes also there only for aesthetic purposes…i kid.}

I have those same containers! We can be twins. Yay! (and I love leftovers, too–do you remember,our Sue S. called them “warm-ups”?? We warm them up, and then they warm us up!!xomoi
I can totally relate! I moved back to the US from France too and lunches definitely aren't what they used to be! I'm really happy to have found your blog.
*puts up both hands* !!! fellow left-overs lover right here…. most fabulous food tastes even better when heated up as all the work has already been done and all you need to do is enjoy.
