five little things that made my week.
1. this tool box.
{because all painted up blue, it gets new life for faye’s art supplies.}
2. this wire basket.
{because i’ve been fiddling with the arrangement of our linen closet since we moved into this apartment two years ago, and i think i finally got it right.}
3. this springtime indulgence.
{because i’m powerless at the farmers’ market this time of year.}
4. this hand towel.
{because i finally admitted that our bathroom towels needed reassignment to the rag pile.}
5. these peach blossoms.
{because see number three.}
other things:
these photographs of salt lakes. via ginny.
visions of gjelina.
“my most-used kitchen utensils,” per my chef-friend carrie.
“their idea of a woman is ‘mother, daughter, girlfriend, friend’ not ‘writer, artist, public person.’”
sweetest little outlet there ever was.

What a great idea to paint the tool box! I have an antique one whose mustard paint I am tired of. May I ask what type of paint you used and whether you had to sand first?
I did a very quick and dirty job: no sanding, no priming, just one coat of the same acrylic paint that we painted our bedroom furniture with. It’s only been a few days, and time will tell how well it wears, but I wanted a quick fix to cover up rust! If you want a super long-lasting fix, I’d recommend sanding and priming!
Quick and dirty works for me. Thanks for the tip!
i totally agree. i cannot resist lovely blooms at this time of year. it’s worth it for the mental health boost!
I am so into that Flat Saute Set! It’s beautiful and I can’t imagine ever needing any other utensils.
I’m with you! And the cutting boards on the site were beautiful too. Putting on the wishlist now 🙂
I’m SO INTRIGUED by that set! It’s so beautiful! How would you … use it? All I can imagine is trying to flip something in a frying pan (a hamburger, a piece of fish) and burning my hand on the side of the pan. Has anyone here used it? Does it really work? If so I want to buy it immediately…
Hi there: I was intrigued by it because a friend of mine who’s a trained chef has the set and loves using these guys for everything from flipping fried eggs to scraping the last portion of rice from a pot, to sautéeing veggies, etc.! Don’t think the risk for hand burning would be any greater than with other utensils 😉
Thanks for pointing me towards the Meaghan O’Connell article. I loved it.
You’re welcome! She always has a smart thing or ten to say! Loved this piece in particular!
Pics of your linen closet? I’m sure it’s gorgeous and inspiring.
I agree with Lauren but I’d also love to know what art supplies you have for little Faye.
