my week in objects (mostly).

August 2, 2019

1. this breakfast table, our own stuff.

{it’s so good to be home. as an aside: the rate at which my children can consume stone fruit is truly astounding.}

2. this trio.

{all lined up, every morning, by the new resident of the top bunk.}

3. this little plant baby.

{because a month of neglect was not kind to our last one.}

4. this new phone case.

{because my old one split and this seemed like the best replacement.}

5. this new iteration of the most awkward corner in our apartment.

{because why not try something new?}

other things:

350 million.

i can’t help rooting for the ones that go wonky.

planet weaning.

flat pack, flat unpack.

broccoli and tortellini is a fine meal. i’ll be over at 6.

it’s grown-ups who are doing this and other grown-ups who are letting it happen.

right hand on red, left foot on yellow.

no country for old moderates.

it’s very easy…to find yourself organizing your life around practices you find ridiculous and possibly indefensible.

little byrd.

    I adore the Jill Twiss piece on grown-ups. It got me a little weepy, which isn’t a bad thing. Thanks for sharing.

      I loved Jill’s piece too.

      Civil discourse no longer happens in America. What bothers me is the elementary school behavior of name calling and yelling louder, as if that will prove your view is right. Doesn’t work that way people, but it seems we have truly lost our way. I hope it gets better, but my expectations are so low they scrape the floor.

      Ethiopia is setting a fine example, I hope other nations follow suit.

    I’d love your tips on getting your daughter to make her bed. I can’t get my boys to do much of anything without threats, and, even then, they do a pretty crappy job.
