five little things that made my week.
1. this cozy blanket.
{and the extra few minutes of morning stories.}
2. this “basket.”
{because we can’t be the only family making use out of the recycling for sorting games.}
3. this cup of coffee.
{reheated three times. because clichés sometimes do come true.}
4. this basketball.
{because it’s just the right size. in other words: huge. }
5. this other blanket.
{for staying cozy with.}
other things:
made this, but with raclette. gah!
mistake island
grape pizza. doing it.
i don’t know. this is kind of delightful.
this sweater.
grandma’s hobby.
not sure if i’m sold.

I turned up my nose at the Boynton books when we got them as a gift, but I’ve become a fan. Brevity laced with anarchy!
I admit pajama-de-bop has a nice rhythm.
A newly converted Boynton fan, that article was….interesting?
The reheated coffee as cliche…yep. My sister and I both have fallen into our grandmother’s footsteps with this one too. The only thing we’re missing is a hot pink lipstick stain around the edge of the cup.
Speaking of the recycling, if you’re looking for ideas for future posts I’d love one on how to attractively deal with garbage and recycling in a small space.
Hi Erin, your cup of coffee always look so perfect. What’s your method? I’m always looking to up my morning coffee routine.
Thanks and love your blog!
Christine
couldn’t help but laugh to myself about the recyclables. My little nephew kept himself busy near the recycling cupboard recently with some beer bottles and dog kibble. Fill the bottle with kibble, a piece at a time, dump and repeat… Have a great weekend Erin x
I recently just bought my son some of Boynton’s books, and he loves them.
I’m not one to scrutinize children’s books (unless it was blantant) so honestly I haven’t paid too much attention to her writing, but now I will!
The sweater link doesn’t work!
Thanks for letting me know! All fixed.
Thank you!
Love that link about the dark place names. Not exactly depressing, but I remember the name of a road in Newfoundland that caught my fancy: River of Sticks.
all of the blankets in this post ring true with me. i often find myself cracking a window at night to let in a cool breeze, then trying to keep warm with a blanket on the couch instead of just closing the window. the air is crisp and the blankets are cozy this way, right?
The grandmothers socks are amazing.
I don’t think that Sandra Boynton books are to be read into that deeply, but, I was impressed with how much someone (the author of the article) could write about nothing, ha. I’m kind of serious though. It takes true talent to pull artistic explanations out of brief board books. I have read the Going to Bed Book a 100 times and I still couldn’t agree with her that there was a deeper meaning to it, even though it would be fun to. I read your newsletter and croutons sound like a brilliant idea, I’m going to make some. Apple crisp sounds like a really nice idea too.
