five little things that made my week.
1. band aids.
{because blisters on my heels aren’t fun, but going sockless for the first time since november sure was. even it was wishful thinking.}
2. tulips.
{carted home by james and faye after a long walk for them and a long day of writing for me.}
3. this sweet book.*
{because three cheers for tiny green islands and teaching kids the names for obscure colors (and critters).}
4. this serum.
{because i finally ran out of my old stuff and could try something new! patience rewarded. such good stuff.}
5. these bongos.
{because james has been trying to sell an old set of drums for forever and this week we got rid of one and faye found a deep and abiding love for the bongos. progress?}
other things:
one more treat for surviving winter’s last hurrah.
on packing a weekend bag.
nearly ten months in, thinking about slings.
good thoughts about negativity online.
might need canvas for spring.
new life for papas’ old shirts.
the search for general tso.

Oh my goodness – on the slings….do it! You ABSOLUTELY won't regret babywearing. (You probably will wish you had started sooner!) Sakura Bloom is a lovely brand and I'm a huge fan. I don't want to sound like a creeper, but I always thought you'd be one to try a Sakura Bloom, because of the minimalist way you live. Once you get the hang of it you will absolutely love it!
Ha! I wear Faye all the time when we're out and about, but now that she's incredibly mobile, I've been more tempted to carry her around with me while we're at home! You know, so I can brush my teeth without her trying something death defying! I put her in our carrier sometimes, but I'm thinking about something that's a little less bulky!
Oh definitely! I feel you – I have a 3 and year old an a 1 year old so someone is always wanting me to hold them. #thestruggleisreal
I feel like the SB is right up your alley! It's comfortable, definitely compact for travel and small spaces, and looks like a piece of art when you're not using it (if you decide to hang it on a coat rack). I love how easy it is to put it on and get baby in. You can front, hip or back carry in it. It's just versatile all around, and the company is so lovely. Sorry, I sound like a spokesperson! I promise I'm not…just a huge SB fan! š
Have become in love with Portland Apothecary. I find myself heading to their website almost every week looking for something new and an excuse to buy it š

Wish I had used a sling-would have made my life so much easier š
What the first commenter said! Sakura Bloom's slings are wonderful. Bonus with you living in NYC, you could go somewhere to get one in person and they'll teach you how to use it – maybe metro minis?
Just ordered a sling from Wildbird for my 5 month old. Made in USA, 100% linen, a little more budget friendly than Sakura. Seems like she's just starting up her business, which I appreciate.

I, too, am a Sakura Bloom lover! We have a two-toned linen, which is discontinued now, but lovely. I wear my 13 month old in it often, to prepare dinner when she's too antsy to play alone, or into the store for an errand when the Ergo is too bulky, or for some quick snuggles as we walk outside to get the mail, etc. etc. I definitely recommend a ring sling and I'm partial to SB.
The tulips are so beautiful, as is the little book! Hopefully sometime soon there will be more flowers and greeny things happening around here.
