last week, grace from poetic home ran a series of posts called my favorite vintage things. inspired by grace’s blog (which encouraged bloggers to cull a list of their favorite vintage items) i decided to put together a little list of my own. here it is, in no particular order:
my little bed-side lamp (ugly shade excluded). {i found it last year on my birthday. its orange bakelite bottom is my favorite part.}
my kitchen chairs. {i swapped the generic ones that came with this table for these darlings and painted the boring old table coal blue. thank you craigslist, for generic furniture, and the treasures that replace it}.
my raffia handbag. {i found it at a tag-sale last winter. it’s so fun to wear and when i’m not out on the town, the colors blend right into our bedroom}.
my mother-of-pearl pill box. {from my cousin grace barker, who lived to be 99}.
my erinmore flake box. {from my aunt ruth, who also lived to be 99. i love these colors, and the name is pretty nice too}.
my little brown box. {given to me by my dear friend allison when we were little. she found it at an antique show on our town green. inside are beautiful little glass vials with silver tops that read “e,” just for me. the brass box on the side is from maxim’s in paris. another relic from jet-setting ruth}.
so that’s my list. what are your favorite vintage things?

Erin, I really love your vintage treasures!! The bird stand is so delightful, as is your wonderful and special box collection. With so many relatives living to 99, the boxes must be good luck 🙂
these are so perfect

Love your little box collection – especially that little yellow and red one. Just found your blog through Julia – and she’s right… it’s fabulous.
You have some lovely things! Getting to peek into other people’s collections is so much fun.
I especially adore your little bird hook.
I am so in love with your bird hook! where did you get it? I also adore the box collection!
the brown box in the last picture is too cute…and the picture itself is beautiful!!
awesome finds! 🙂
thanks so much for all of your notes! i found the little bird hook at an antique shop on castle street in wilmington. if you’re ever in town, head to the 500 block of castle and start looking! you never know what you might stumble across!
Great stuff! Can I have the bird hook?? Thanks!
