eric sanderson’s mannahatta project takes a different kind of look at one of this country’s original downtowns. instead of focusing on elements of the built environment, sanderson has endeavored to peel back the layers of concrete and steel to uncover what the island of manhattan would have looked like when henry hudson first saw it in 1609. check out national geographic’s september issue for a closer look at what he’s found. wild, no?

I thought that was the Zambezi River in Zambia. I visited Victoria Falls a couple summers ago and it looks JUST like it. Very interesting.
