my week in objects (mostly).

January 22, 2010
five little things that made my week.

1. these packages.book {because i shipped off eight of my books. and now i’m ready to buy new for a fresh semester}.

2. this rumply handkerchief. hanky {because i found it mixed up in our bag of rags. but it’s far too pretty to be a rag.

2. this shelf.risd{because it’s my favorite window at risd. the room is filled with so much goodness. one day i will bring a step-ladder and peer in}.

4. this knot.knot{because knots are nicer than staples}.

5. this special delivery.special delivery {because even though it wasn’t for me, it still made me smile. to think of a cheesecake on a doorstep}.

what little something made your week?

Cheesecake, tea, and antlers in a window, very nice week. I'm curious as to what you are studying… over the last couple months my guess was historic preservation? I don't remember that you ever said.

(Hi! I've been reading your blog for awhile– most of last year, but I don't think I've ever commented).

happy friday guys! s@sha, i study public humanities at brown…it's a program aimed at all things that help bring, well, the humanities to the public. i've been focusing a lot on the built environment, historic architecture (good guess!) and that sort of thing, but i'm also interested in the way that crafts are interpreted for public consumption..and on, and on! happy weekend.

I think we have the same favorite window at RISD. That looks like the Nature Lab window. One day I'd love to look around there, so much cool stuff. Hope you have a great weekend!

Someone is SO lucky that cheesecake didn't end up missing when they came home!

And YES on the knot — I hate staples in my tea bags.

I can't believe that you posted a picture of that window at RISD on the same day that I took a tour of the nature lab…if you want a peek at what lies behind the window, I posted my pictures here: http://lavenderlimes.blogspot.com/2010/01/risd-tour.html

If you ever have a chance to visit…do it! You will be blown away!

your Friday posts I really look forward to!
This week a student left me a note on my laptop telling me how he felt about me as his drama teacher. I can tell you that there is nothing that makes me happier then a note left as a surprise. Esp. from teenagers. I have a board of them in my office and they just never cease to make my entire day. Your photos capture these pleasantries. Now I only wish I could find a cheesecake on my laptop!

Your week in objects always make me smile. I love how you find the beauty in the simplest things. I know exactly how you feel about shipping off books and getting new ones. The cheesecake is my absolute favourite! Wouldn't that be a lovely surprise? I agree. Knots are so much nicer than staples.

Knots are so much better than staples.

Visiting a goat farm in Pescadero and then going home with fresh ricotta ravioli really helped make my week. It was so tasty!
