my week in objects (mostly).

January 29, 2010
five little things that made my week.

1. this bundt pan.
buntpan
{because it let me bake a cake that provided sweet afternoon treats (almost) all week}.

2. this mason jar.
coffee
{because did you know you can screw one right into the base of a blender and grind up your coffee}?

3. these tiny flash cards.
flashcards
{because they are preposterously small. and i made them exactly five years ago. and they’ve just been hanging around with me ever since. this week, found in my sock drawer}.

4. this frost.
frost
{because if you can’t find beauty in it, it will ruin you. seriously. it’s that cold}.

5. this nightstand.
nightstand
{because sweet kate ran a little series featuring it. here}.

what little something made your week?

I love the photo of the frost… and I didn't know about the nightstand post, but as always, I love getting little glimpses into your home.

(How do you grind the coffee beans with the mason jar and the blender again..?)

The little something that made my week was a call from my brother – because they are getting more and more frequent after a long stretch of silence.

    xo,

The mason jar and blender, I did not know. That frost is lovely, I am jealous, we don't get anything like that here.

Something that made my week…a freshly washed blue and white snuggly blanket, it was so cozy last night.

Mason jar = coffee grinder? No way… Who knew?

Maria at Vintage Simple made my week. She's such a cool gal.

I know, she's not an object, but it does say (mostly) up there.

Sigh. I hate to admit it, but lint. But at least I can use it to make paper, right?

The mason jar coffee grinder idea is brilliant … I will be trying this! 🙂

you should! so easy. all you have to do is unscrew the base (with the blade) from the pitcher portion of the blender, and screw it on to the mason jar instead, et voila!

    I love your nightstand!
When I was in uni I too used crates and stacked them to make a 'dresser'. My girlfriend also sewed little curtains on her which was adorable. Now, I have my prized one ( old apple crate ) as an end table next to the couch. Such a simple idea but so quaint and perfect for you! Thank you for the memories!

I had to leave a comment because this made me happy: I have a little stack of flash cards just that size, and they are also kept together with a little hair tie.

that frost does look beautiful but I have to admit, I'm glad I'm not in it! 🙂

and your nightstand is just too cool. I don't think I would ever look at an old crate and think, hey, that would make a perfect nightstand. but it does! 🙂

I completely agree with finding the beauty in frost. Although I live in San Francisco, I grew up in Boston and it wasn't until I left that I was able to see the beauty in a frigid cold night, or see a Winter sunset as pleasing, instead of wishing it had the intensity of Summer. But then shouldn't everything in life be seen this way?
