hydrangea rose of sharon reading meadowboat

yesterday: a quick trip to my parents’ house to pick up my bicycle, commune with the flowers, and eat dinner at the beach. and the real upside? working on the weekends means jaunts to the country without fighting the traffic. i’m starting to get used to this.

    So pretty! Ahhh is that a cedar shingle roof? Freakin myself for not fighting for one! The back slope of my house is basically flat and everyone convinced me it would be a bad idea. Such pretty photos!

    @katy it is a cedar shingle roof. but as you can see, my parents made other compromises: architectural shingles on the outbuilding. they have 12 over 12 windows on the front and sides of the house, but never replaced the 1940s back windows. it's all about finding the right balance…
