rabbit foot fern.

rabbit foot fern fern

Sometimes, you just need to try something new, even if change is only as dramatic as swapping out one tired plant with a perkier substitute. I’ve tried for a few months to convince our succulent that there’s enough sunshine in this tiny apartment to keep it happy, but this weekend I finally admitted defeat. I potted a small rabbit foot fern in her stead, and I’m hopeful that our shady little space will nurture that bit of green better than it did the succulent.

PS. I found my new fern friend at a local shop called GRDN. I wrote more about that space, here.

It's always oddly sad for me to let go of a house plant, but necessary. I may have one of two that need replacing as well.

Gosh, I just looked at your other piece on GRDN and it looks great! I've been looking for a place like this in the neighborhood. Thanks Erin!

Hardest task in my gardening years: keep a fern alive in my house. yeah yeah
I don't want to be the bad guy here, but the need lotta of humidity in the air to stay cool and green. And my house, I am so sorry but it's not a forest's glade. I will wish you good luck with her, you will need it! πŸ™‚

Hoping I'll have good luck! The rabbit foot fern needs moisture, but some less than other varieties!

What a pretty little plant! I've been looking for something fern-like for our shady living room. I might have to pick one of these guys up.

gorgeous pictures! Love the green. I am terrible with plants in the house. Somehow, the plants in our gardens and I, we're friends, buddies. But the ones in our house just don't seem to speak the same language. Weird πŸ™‚

It's ONLY the succulents that survive here in hot Sicily. I can rely upon them to outlast even my black thumb.

Every time I think of a fern I think of "How to lose a guy in 10 days" with the love fern. hehe. What a pretty plant! I hope it grows! =)

I just did the same with my urban garden last week and gifted the ones that are not happy in the hope they will be rescued for greener thumbs than mine. The remaining two will hopefully keep strong in my care!

God, I have a total black thumb, I can kill any plant that you put near me. There isn't really any hope.

One of my to-dos this week is to swing by the nursery to get a fern. They are so pretty!

I'd like to have a plant in my apartment, but I can't because it wouldn't get any sunlight. My window faces several other apartments in close proximity, which means I have to keep my blinds closed all the time. But at least I can live vicariously through other people like you who have pretty plants in their apartments. πŸ™‚

Love ferns and their air purifying abilities!

My cats eat anything green – plants, dropped pieces of kale from the floor, basil still in the green market bag. Since I can't keep plants in the apartment (475 sq ft), I like to think GRDN is my extension of the apartment when I walk past it on my way to work. Who wouldn't want to live in GRDN?
