Our kitchen is fine. In fact, it’s more than fine. It’s spacious as far as tiny apartment kitchens go. There are new cabinets and marble countertops and there’s a gas range and a dishwasher and somebody better stop me from complaining about any of this, because clearly we lucked out in the rental kitchen game. But it’s not Beth’s kitchen. And there aren’t any nearby windows which makes photographing in it tricky. And heaven help me, but the marble is all wrong and the cabinet pulls are at best boring, at worst ugly.
We’ve made the best of it with simple styling. Just the bare essentials. A whiskey bottle with a bar pourer for our soap. Linen hand towels. Simple knives hung in a row. But like most things, it’d be elevated ever so slightly by swapping in a few new treats. And since this series is all about dreaming, here’s my wish list:
1. A woven rug in the miniest size for the cool tile floor. To cushion chilly toes and falling glassware. 2. A pretty golden and cork dispenser for our soap. Because why have plastic when you can have gold? 3. A handcarved wooden spoon. The better to taste-test with. 4. A ceramic utensil holder that matches our dishes and would wrangle our spoons. 5. A simple salt cellar, because our last one went the way of the dodo. 6. A ceramic spoon rest, in just the right shape.
What kitchen accessories are you lusting after lately?

beautiful gold and cork dispenser.
Well this is interesting! I have a very similar list of kitchen "wants," including the spoon rest, cooking utensil holder, soap dispenser, and this cutie enamel kettle: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/freedesign/item/yynhp001/

That soap dispenser is rapidly moving out of the realms of make-believe for me…
I just ordered 2 of these rag rugs from Urban Outfitters that are pretty similar (and affordable!):

Nice find!
Beautiful items! This blog is making me broke… but no complaints, because my house is looking dreamy.

Ha! Glad you've been able to treat yourself!
I'd love to be able to paint my kitchen cupboards, which are an ugly brown and are chipped too. But since it's a rental, I'm not allowed to, unfortunately.
Ah, yes! The old rental foil—here, too!
Bigger than an accessory but I am currently dreaming of a big kitchen island. Just this weekend I moved our kitchen table into the office for other uses so now I need something new in there. I'm envisioning a big island on wheels that I can pull into the middle of the kitchen for workspace and tuck into the corner the table was in for casual eating on bar stools!
Your home – your kitchen – sounds wonderful. A living space. (Nobody should want Beth's kitchen. Vapid consumerism masquerading as "authenticity" 🙂 )
I'm happy in my space, but yikes! Harsh assessment, anon! Being an arbiter of someone else's authenticity is a tricky role indeed!
