windward made: a giveaway.

November 17, 2014

winward made giveaway I’ve never been to Inge’s workshop in the Netherlands, but if the world headquarters of Windward Made is not the coziest spot on the planet, I’d be surprised. Inge is the “designer, maker, and everything-elser” at the small online shop which she keeps stocked with hand-printed tea towels, pillow covers, tea and plant cozies, among other things. If you’re on the hunt for a simple and sweet gift to bring to someone’s home this winterβ€”or a little treat for yourselfβ€”Winward Made is the place to look.

Inge screenprints her own designs onto hemp and organic cotton fabric using non-toxic inks and sews her goods on a vintage sewing machine with organic thread. This week, she’ll be prepping to mail off a package to a Reading My Tea Leaves reader.
winward made giveaway One lucky reader will receive a brown paper parcel wrapped in string and tied up with a feather for good measure. winward made giveaway Inside, the winner will find a pillow cover, tea towel set, and plant cozy of his or her choosing.winward made giveaway ^^^A wintry pine green plant cozy for keeping plants warmβ€”and hiding less-than-beautiful pots. (If you ask me, they’d make the perfect “tree skirt” for an apartment-sized Christmas tree.)
winward made giveaway ^^^Not for plants, only, the plant cozy makes a fabric bowl for stashing fruit or other odds and ends. It’s also fully reversible. The simple tea towels come in four different designs that are festive for the wintertime, without being kitschy. They’re sold individually and in sets of two and they’re made with a hang tag in the corner for easy drying. This one’s the pine tree towel.
winward made giveaway ^^^Inge’s organic cotton and hemp pillow covers come in five subtle graphic designs and are beautifully designed with an envelope closure. This one is the black stripes cover. Perfect for wintry snuggling.

To enter the giveaway, subscribe to the Windward Made Newsletter and leave a comment below complete with a way to contact you and a note about your go-to holiday host or hostess gift.

The giveaway will close at 5:00 pm EST on Friday, November 21 and a randomly selected winner will be announced on Monday, November 24. Open to all readers. UPDATE: This giveaway is now closed. Mary, whose go-to gift is “a jar of something canned from the cupboard” is the winner.

This post and giveaway was sponsored by Windward Made. Opinions and enthusiasm are my own. Thanks so much for supporting the brands that keep Reading My Tea Leaves afloat.

Those plant cozies are adorable!! Although a bottle of wine will never go out of fashion (in my book), I stick to the traditional gifts of a boquet of flowers or box of chocolates for a host(ess). Whether you all enjoy them at the party or your host indulges after finally booting out the last guest, it will be appreciated. I like taking flowers to give the host. Host and hostess gifting isn't common among my friends in their mid-twenties, so they're always surprised and excited, since few of us ever buy ourselves flowers. In the winter a good-smelling candle is a nice alternative to flowers. Thanks for hosting a giveaway, Erin!

A bottle of wine or some beer brewed by my husband. I've often received plants and, is it just me, or is a plant a bit of a commitment to force upon someone? I like to pick my plants myself and in a tiny abode a new one to add to the mix can feel thoughtful, but crowding! I love the idea of lovely tea towels though. Something imbibe-able, edible, or useful is ideal, I think. (kimberlydawnlacroix {at} gmail {dot} com)

What a beautiful site to add to my favorites! Around this time of year I put up a big pot of Orange/cranberry marmalade. I make it a bit less sweet and not as firm as traditional marmalade and include a recipe for something savory like a simple roast chicken or Pork loin. It perfect for Thanksgiving guests too. When rustic mason jars dressed in burlap and twin fill my y kitchen pantry I know the holidays are here! [email protected]

I separate it into small batches and pull some out for no fuss added fresh baked cookies to give to the host(ess). I wrap them into a gift box instead of a plate and If there is already a big spread of holiday treats I make sure they know that those cookies are a little gift for them and they can feel free to hog them all for later!

But if I'm just dropping by, showing up with the makings for Sweet n Saltines (aka Christmas crack) is the greatest gift of all–especially when I bring my own pan to spare the hostess any dishes. http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/trisha-yearwood/sweet-and-saltines-recipe.html The house smells amazing through the morning and there's typically some left for the week.
