five little things that made my week.
1. this book.
{because it’s just what i needed to read.}
2. these barrettes.
{because even though they keep getting pitched overboard, they’re mostly working for tiny bangs.}
3. this chair.
{because taking off the tray and pushing it up to the table has made meals a little more peaceful.}
4. this aluminum foil-covered plate.
{because breaking fast (er, well, feasting) with neighbors and getting sent with a plate of treats is never a bad thing.}
5. this floor.
{because it’s pitted and scratched and scuffed and stained. but freshly mopped.}
other things:
ethical fashion, baby edition.
cloudbreak.
golden milk cocoa.
the new standard.
autumn moon.
on travel photography.
a little reminder.

What do you use to mop your floors? We have an old swiffer that comes out when necessary but I'd love to find an easy alternative to those chemically laden swiffer wipes!
We use a regular old wet mop! It doesn't take up much more room than a swiffer and we most often just use a little castile soap in hot water. Plus a few drops of essential oil if we're feeling fancy!
Your little reminder at the end… the people that criticize every little thing as if your decisions are an affront to their being are unfortunate. Why can't more people (especially women and mothers) subscribe to "good for you, not for me" and stop being so mean to each other?
Agreed, of course.
I've been wanting to leave that comment for a while. Solidarity!
This is so pretty! And the photos are amazing!

There is a difference between constructive, smart, interesting dialogue/feedback and being mean. To suggest otherwise promotes "meanness" and insults people's intelligence.
That chair looks amazing! I love shearling anything!

Just wanted to say I love these Friday posts (and your blog in general). They're like a lovely breath of fresh air in my day. Keep on keepin' on!
I have the new Elizabeth Gilbert on my must reads list too. I have to finish a bunch of other reading first.
Great photos as always! That chair looks super cozy.
We have old, old, wooden floors like that in our rental, and I wonder how you care for them? I've read so many different things!
