my week in objects (mostly).

October 28, 2016

five little things that made my week:

1. these wonky tea lights.candles_reading_my_tea_leaves_img_5299

{all refilled for a cozy weekend.}

2. this sparkly ladybug.ladybug_reading_my_tea_leaves_img_5288

{because right now it’s been worn for about 20-second stints, but we’ve still got a few days to “practice.”}

3. these leggingslegging_reading_my_tea_leaves_img_5301

{because i’ve reached the point in pregnancy when discomfort is my new normal. leggings aren’t pants? meh.}

4. this salt.salt_reading_my_tea_leaves_img_5285

{because we needed to bulk up our play dough supplies.}

5. these slippers.slippers_reading_my_tea_leaves_img_5296

{only trouble is, i never want to leave the house.}

other things:

empathy is not always a default setting.

impt. lessons on making your last name plural.

making maternity leave visible.

one thing at a time.

teensy slippers.

playground in a can

very into the idea of a geburtstagstisch

we might need a moose around here.

ps. there’s a newsletter coming later this afternoon with a very cozy treat for readers.

    Erin, seriously those slippers couldn’t look more cozy! I have been hoping to find a pair for home, thank you! Also Faye is going to be the sweetest little lady bug.

    sending good pregnancy vibes… leggings ahhh. loved Ingrid and Isabel Active Leggings, I ran and lounged 😉

    Happy Halloween to your little tribe!

    I have those same slippers and they are the absolute best! There have been several times where I’ve almost walked out the door with them still on my feet!

    As always, the articles on being a working mom resonate. Oh how I wish the current office climate wasn’t so that we have to fight to leave at a decent hour (although, I must admit, my new office is very good about that). I used to work in an office where I was also the only working mom (and a single mom at that) and I once had a male boss question the fact that I would leave (technically) “on time” to make sure I didn’t miss practices or ballet. He is seriously someone I consider mailing glitter to on a daily basis…

    On a happier note, I really need to make some of those candles!

    Great article on pluralizing last names. One of my biggest pet peeves!

      Came here to say the exact same thing. WHY is using apostrophes to pluralize everything suddenly acceptable? I blame the internet.

    My mom has been wearing those slippers my entire life – we just bought her a new pair last year for christmas. My dad, boyfriend and I all have the mocassin style ones. LL Bean makes the best!

    The plural last name article made me laugh out loud! This has always bothered me!

      If what you miss is the higher rise, I accidentally ordered “tall” sized leggings last year, and the higher rise is so wonderful I might not ever go back to “average”. I did have to hem the legs a little shorter to avoid the saggy baggy elephant ankle, but it’s definitely worth it to me.

    The Geburtstagstisch and the whole article e made me laugh out loud. Being German I didn’t realize it was typically German. I am definitely going to try the recipe.
    As always a lovely series! Have a good Halloween weekend!

    Loved the geburstagtisch piece and the middle school moms piece that she linked to on her about page (although i’m not even a mom — but I have nieces and think of their mother as they head into this age). Also – the apostrophes!!

    Happy weekend Erin!

    I’m not pregnant (yet!) but I already only wear leggings on weekends. When I do have the great fortune of one day getting pregnant, I have no shame in wearing leggings every day.

    You’re probably not a fan of ikea, but they have the cutest woodland animal cookie cutter set with a moose, fox, bear, squirrel, hedgehog, and snail. My son loves them! The set is like $6/$8 too!

    Erin, totally random (and you may have already seen this), but I got an email in my inbox the other day saying that LOLA is now offering applicator-free tampons! Enjoy your Sunday. xoxo

    Ha, how funny to read about german birthday traditions! I did’nt realize I follow them. Except for the cake: I think everyone has his/her favourites, in my case cherry crumble pie.

    I have had that same pair of slippers since 2003! I had to replace the sheepskin footbed a couple years ago because I had worn it bare, but otherwise they are still going strong. 🙂 So cozy!
