In cakes, plums.
At night, breezes.
Through hair, brushes.
On heads, pigtails.
Over shoulders, backpacks.
In pouches, pencils.
Inside t-shirts, names.
On morning sidewalks, footsteps.
Under the fence, asters.
Among the milkweed, monarchs.
In treetops, gilded leaf tips.
On feet, new shoes.
Under ankles, new blisters.
In schoolyards, children.
Along the fence, parents.
Inside rib cages, heartbeats (ba boom. ba boom. ba boom).

This is my absolute favorite series <3
Agreed! Xo
Beautiful.
Beautiful list.
I adore these poems. Please keep writing them. They are so special.
Gah, is there anything dreamier or more optimistic than a freshly sharpened pencil? September swoon.
I love fall and all the backpacks 🙂
J’ai adoré! Merciiiii
Your monthly sentiments plus a simple line drawing for illustration (has to be a pair of shoes for Sept) would make a lovely wall calendar I would buy for myself and others. A nice big one with your simple, beautiful aesthetic.
I would love one of these!
I agree. Was thinking about calendars too.
You’re getting breezes at night? Please send; melting.
Surely will by month’s end!
Back to school is such an exciting time! I love this little series and enjoying how the ways we spend our days / the things we notice differ.
These words are the picture of our experience these past two weeks.
I love the simplicity of this series
