1. the gift of these sweet matching duds.
{for two big kids and one very little one on the way.}
2. this diaper pail.
{but mostly the space we carved for it in the closet.}
3. this blanket in this crib.
{and the older siblings who keep putting it there.}
4. this tiny dino.
{because our beloved neighbors moved a few blocks away, but they left this treasure from their apartment with us.}
5. this bed.
{because it’s been easy to feel grumpy about how much time i’ve had to spend in it, and much harder to feel grateful. but i am, grateful.}
other things:
so happy to vote for this small business.

I’ve been reading your blog for years and don’t comment often, but have been thinking about you this week in light of the babe who you indicated may be arriving sooner rather than later. I hope you are doing ok. I have two boys who have started asking for a little baby sister and it’s not in the cards for our household, but the idea of older siblings excitedly waiting for a new babe to arrive and sweetly placing a blanket in a crib is melting my heart. Sending you best wishes in the weeks ahead!
Thanks so much, Marisa!
Another great edition of this wonderful list! Thank you for everything you do to bring beauty and awareness to us.
Wendy! , that was great.
OMG, that article had me cackling! I’m 9 weeks pregnant and steeling myself for the “advice” to come pouring in in a few months.
That Guardian piece was a real gut punch. She is incredibly brave for putting her story out in the open like that. I cannot imagine the hateful, judgmental comments she must be fielding. It is so much easier to disagree/attack an individual than to examine the structures that put people in that position in the first place.
Wishing the best for both you and your little one. And great links as always!
I hope you can feel good about taking time off when you need it and that this community will support it and keep showing up. I will. You create so much of value and I recommend your resources all the time.
Kristian Edwards, founder of BLK+GRN is an amazing person! I also support the vote! Happy to see her business a part of your list.
Sure is!
It sounds like things have been really challenging (to say the least). Please know that you have a community of local New Yorkers available to be helpful or useful or distracting or something else. It is hard for me to ask for help, so I often don’t even offer, assuming others are as reticent as me to saying yes to an offer of assistance. But I am certain that those of us who are here and available would be happy (enthusiastic, even!) to do something to alleviate some of the struggle and brighten your day. =)
Thinking of you and hoping you’re well!
Thinking of you, Erin. I’ve been following you closely as my third baby is just four months old. You have been such a bright, honest light for me as I’ve transitioned through parenthood over the past five years and have lifted my spirits *many* times these past months. I hope your absence this week is due to snuggling a baby or taking extra good care of yourself. Sending you many warm hugs.
Sara
I love the framing article! Thank you!
Just been missing hearing from you and hoping all is safe and well.
