1. these clam shells.

{the sweetest birthday treasures.}

2. this bunch of yarrow.

{in all the best colors.}

3. this popcorn.

{the perfect snack.}

4. this pink cup.

{because the number of broken cups directly correlates to the number of months spent at home, yes? we needed a little color.}

5. these little roots.

{for growing so fast.}

other things:

closet fundraiser.

you want a confederate monument?

junk science.

cowboy history has been lily-whited-out.

the impossible state of motherhood.

facts shouldn’t be so hard to come by.

too fried to funnel your rage.

hunting for bread boards.

    I love our Rice cups so much – I take a little too much joy in combining them in new combinations with the colorful plates (of a different brand) that I set out for my children – their colors are so good!

    I wish (oh, how I wish) I felt confident enough to send my kid to school in the fall, but after a summer of watching people in my community take foolish risks and refuse to wear masks … yikes. I get why experts keep repeating that the evidence so far seems to show that most kids don’t get as sick/get less sick/maybe don’t transmit as much, but I don’t find it reassuring myself–we have no idea what the long-term consequences of a COVID infection are … none. We don’t know what recovery looks like in twelve months or five years or if there may be secondary illness or strange side effects way down the line, even if you have a seemingly mild infection. Given that, to me the rational course of action is to try and prevent as many infections as possible until there is information/treatment and offering much more aggressive forms of support to folks in the meantime, but it doesn’t seem like that is likely to happen, so arghhhhh.
