make-believe: rainy day reading corner.

February 22, 2022

Quick, before the sun comes out and I have the will to leave the apartment again, here’s an ode to making the best of these decidedly dreary February days. Here’s what I’m daydreaming about:

Fuschia sweats for lolling around in.

A reading lamp for shining light on the subect.

A soft spot for settling.

You Never Get it Back for glimpses into someone else’s life.

The garden journey for inward reflection.

A rococo mug for teas and potions. (Plus a little 2/22/2022 news.)

Urban-grown flower delivery (And being teleported to San Diego.)

TAKE ACTION:

In an effort to ground this make-believing in something a bit more down to earth, here’s something that else to support:

Soul FIRE Farming Immersion applications open today for four week-long sessions in Summer 2022. From Soulfire Farm: “The Soul FIRE Immersion (Farming In Relationship to Earth) is designed for aspiring, beginning, and intermediate growers of Black, Indigenous, and Latinx heritage to gain basic skills in regenerative farming in a culturally relevant, supportive, and joyful environment.” Apply here or donate directly to Soulfire Farm.

I’ve always thought your East Fork pieces were beautiful but I’ve never bought anything from them. That changes now. One smallish business making noise and doing what’s right is such a relief. Thanks for bringing all of this and especially the books and fuscia sweats our way. Even in this dreary February where we’re all covid positive and isolating in our apartment with our 7, 4 and 2 year old, you continue to provide me a space of hope and brightness.
