make-believe: golden hour.

May 16, 2022

Is there such a thing as Covid cravings? As my sense of smell has all but disappeared and my sense of taste seems to grow fainter by the moment, I’m craving bright green salads with tons of citrus and flaky salt. I want cold wine and friends to share a meal with on a rooftop as the sun goes goes down. We’d make it fancy—gold hoops and lace table settings and scarves around our neck as the sun dips below the buildings. Sounds good, right? In the meantime, here are some daydreamy specifics:

An indigo jumpsuit for swishing around in.

A pitcher full of gold flowers that won’t ever fade.

Thick bronze hoops for feeling fancy.

Yarrowcolored sandals for color.

A botanically dyed scarf for after the sun sets.

Jasmine perfume for sniffing.

Stark white placemats for serving.

Basil-infused olive oil for drizzling.

Pea shoots for munching.

TAKE ACTION:

In an effort to ground this make-believing in something a bit more down to earth, here’s something very pressing to support:

Help keep abortion accessible in the United States.

Donate to independent abortion clinics, searchable by state, at Donations4Abortion.

Donate through Abortion Care Network to Keep Our Clinics to help keep independent clinics open.

If you or someone you know needs abortion care, head to ineedana.com to learn more.

Abortion is healthcare and unrestricted access to abortion is a basic human right.
