things i will do in may.

May 2, 2022

Last night the kids went to bed early. Relatedly, they were sweaty haired and grubby toed and baths are overrated.

James and I made a valiant effort to take advantage of our exhausted children but ten minutes into our Romantic Fire Escape Viewing of West Side Story the projector ran out of juice and we both needed socks, and our joint will to continue our almost-date had decidedly fizzled. We made it through another twenty minutes of a Romantic Indoor Viewing of West Side Story before concluding the kids had the right idea and surrendering to sleep.

This morning at drop-off I found Faye’s school doors locked on arrival. On this second day of May, I can tell you this was not my first calendar-related kerfuffle this month. We celebrated with breakfast in a bonafide diner and an afternoon playdate and I even managed to peck out these words. Lemonade from lemons or something close to it.

Other things I will do in May:

+ Continue to monitor my slow-to-grow chamomile.

+ Find and reprimand the creature who swiped my barely blushing strawberry and the green ones, too.

+ Keep my wits about me.

+ Start something new.

+ Land on a not-too-sweet cake for a v sweet kid.

+ Fix my jammed sewing machine.

+ Pack more picnics.

+ Take more ferry rides.

+ Dead-head the pansies and eat them, too.

Trying to keep up my wit and wits here, too. We can do it together.

If you’re looking for a not-so-sweet cake, may I recommend a healthy banana-sweetened cake with caramelly date frosting? It’s my go-to for every birthday. 🙂 I’ll put the link in the website spot, so as not to attract the attention of a spam detector. I’ve been reading your website for years… so lovely to have something good, wholesome, and positive to look forward to on the internet. Be well, Emillie
