five little things that made my week.
1. i left my sunglasses at my parents’ house a few weeks ago.
{a rare moment in my life when i was very thankful for SWAG.}
2. this basil.
{roots on, in water, still fresh as can be a week later.}
3. this scrap of linen.
{perfectly sized to keep the fan from scratching the sill.}
4. this kindle.
{filled with books for a weekend away.}
5. this dolly.
{for getting so much love lately. “it’s a girl, but people call it a boy. they don’t know girls can have short hair.”}
other things:
handicrafts as intellectual property.

I have both mint and basil from my farmer’s market two weeks ago and it’s great on the counter in water going STRONG. The mint even started to grow roots, so it might end up in a random pot in my house sometime soon 🙂
Amazing! This basil came with the roots from the farmers’ market. I don’t usually have good luck keeping cut herbs in water on the counter—it looks so pretty and it tempts me every time, but it always goes bad faster there for me than if I wash, wrap in a towel, and tuck in the fridge. Admittedly, it’s usually the cilantro that perishes first! (Chimichurri to the rescue!)
What kind of doll is it? I have been looking for a doll that my 2yo son can dress and undress. There are so many different options on the Waldorf toy websites (Bella Luna, Wooden Wagon etc) and its really hard to compare them online…
Oops! Forgot the link. It’s one the beautiful Waldorf dolls made for Acorn Toy Shop!
What ‘cha reading on that Kindle?
Erin, thank you for always compiling such thoughtful and important articles I usually wouldn’t otherwise see. You’ve created a wonderful space for both smelling the proverbial (and sometimes literal!) roses, as well as raising awareness about and promoting action on behalf of larger social + environmental issues, both here and on your Instagram. I very much appreciate all you do 🙂
It would be helpful to note when linked articles are from the NYTimes or other source that requires a paid subscription and allows readers without one a limited number of articles a month. Thanks!
Hey Leah: If you hover over the link before clicking, you can see where it will direct! If you don’t have that set up on your browser, just make sure your status bar is set up to show links when you hover!
If you’re reading on mobile, that wouldn’t work, right?
Probably true!
The basil will eventually root in the cup of water!
It’s already rooted!
