It’s a good day for taking extra special care of yourself. Recovery from a stomach bug notwithstanding, there are lots of reasons to feel more than a bit queasy today. Ginger to the rescue.
This is more of a guide and less of a recipe for a stomach-settling tea:
Take a knob of fresh ginger.
Peel it with the back of spoon or a blunt knife.
Chop or grate the ginger and cover it with boiling water and allow to steep.
Add a healthy glug of honey for sweetness and comfort.
Repeat for as long as you need to feel better.

I love fresh ginger tea, especially in the winter. In fact, I keep a jar of pre-prepared ginger off-cuts from cooking in the freezer, ready to add to a mug of boiling water at any time!

My husband likes to make ginger beer. Personally, I’m not a fan of the flavor but I do savor the settling effect it has on my stomach (especially during pregnancy) and on my head.

Ginger tea is my feel-good tea. I’ve been buying ginger in bulk from the farmers’ market since I’ve moved to the Netherlands. It’s very cheap, it stores well, and it allows me to avoid packaging altogether. So naturally, I have to find a way to use it up.
So far I have made:
gingerbread cookies,
ginger tea,
ginger lemonade,
tofu wrapped in ginger and garlic and left to marinate overnight
ginger fried rice
ginger fried noodles.
I’m still not brave enough to start pickling it, but I think I’m just waiting for a fool-proof recipe to pop up in my Pinterest feed.
This sounds so good! I love ginger tea but I’ve never tried to make my own.
Throw in some varieties peppercorns and/or chamomile if you want to change things up a bit! Or lemongrass.
I love ginger tea, some winters I’ll drink it almost every day! In the morning sometimes I’ll add some jasmine green tea as well.
This was my favorite thing to drink in Prague! All of the coffee shops sell it, and it’s so nice and warming.
