Another heatwave, another weekend in Connecticut. I haven’t taken as much advantage of slipping away for the weekend since I was in college and homesick. But when you sleep in a tiny loft without air conditioning, the sea breeze is like a siren call. This weekend there was the beach and cousins. And parents who, overnight, became doting grandparents. Some kids have all the luck. Dinner on the back porch, dinner at the beach, dinner on our laps after an epic game of keep-the-ball-up in the pool. This is the stuff dreams and summertime are made of.

Ugh, this looks absolutely wonderful! I've been stuck in the city all summer (Sunday's day trip to the Rockaways absolutely does not count).
