1. this wonky little checkerboard.
{made for checkers-obsessed kids.}
2. this sap bucket.
{one man’s trash…for my trash.}
3. this new rain cape for biking.
{a gift from cleverhood and so, so much better than getting soaked.}
4. these bits and pieces.
{from a very productive morning brainstorm with rose.}
5. these sungolds.
{for still being here.}
other things:
there was only me and a house and a vast gap of knowledge.
this unbearable beauty, this ruthless presence.

You always share the most excruciating articles – – sad, infuriating truths. Thank you.
I read “the repair”. So amazing… spoke to me for sure! I and my husband renovated our bathroom. I fixed holes in the ceiling, repaired the 1970s shower plumbing, painted, put in light fixtures, installed shower rod, shelving, mirror, hooks. It’s all easy stuff, all learned by YouTube, but generally inaccessible to women. My husband used YouTube to install the toilet. Boys are taught to use tools from birth through toys and play, so they have an easier time doing repairs. Women have to learn as adults.
Forever glad that my high school offered shop class. Learning to make and fix things is so empowering!
Bicycle and sewing machine cleaning and maintenance, faucet cartridge replacement and aerator screen cleanout, tightening cabinet knobs, unclogging drains, changing air filters, flat tires, jump starting a battery, carving a spoon. We can do things! Some of them are super simple, others you might have to check out a book at the library, but what could be better than that
