shelter: a prickley mountain bag giveaway.

May 21, 2013

The Prickley Mountain Bag in Cove Green Waxed Canvas and Pink Ikat When it comes to bags, I’m more or less a monogamist. I’ve never been one of those women whose closet is jammed full of bags to match shoes and belts and special occasions. I like to carry one trusty bag and to have it do all the work that I need it to. If a bag treats me right, it’s guaranteed a lasting spot on the crook of my arm. If it doesn’t? Well, it doesn’t get a second look.  Lately, my go-to bag has been the Prickley Mountain Bag from Shelter.
The Prickley Mountain Bag in Cove Green Waxed Canvas and Pink Ikat The Prickley Mountain Bag in cove green waxed canvas and bright pink ikat is every bit as lovely as the woman who makes it. Karie Reinertson of Shelter makes consistently beautiful bags from her Asheville, North Carolina studio. Made from thoughtfully sourced leather and one-of-a-kind fabrics, the bags are works of art in the best kind of way: they’re every bit as functional as they are nice to look at.
The Prickley Mountain Bag in Cove Green Waxed Canvas and Pink Ikat With straps that can be worn across the shoulder or carried briefcase-style, the Prickley Mountain bag makes the perfect companion for early morning trips by subway or Saturday afternoon bike rides to explore a new neighborhood. The Prickley Mountain Bag in Cove Green Waxed Canvas and Pink Ikat An interior pocket helps keep things organized and bright brass hardware is both sturdy and handsome. Good qualities in a bag and other things, don’t you think? The Prickley Mountain Bag in Cove Green Waxed Canvas and Pink Ikat Kindly, Karie and Shelter is offering a Prickley Mountain Bag to one lucky Reading My Tea Leaves reader.

For a chance to win, follow Shelter on Instagram and Facebook and leave a comment here with a description of the kinds of things you’d tote around in your Prickley Mountain Bag.

The giveaway will close on Thursday evening at 5:00 pm and a randomly selected winner will be announced on Friday. Lots of luck and thanks for reading! As always, many thanks for supporting Reading My Tea Leaves sponsors.

(This giveaway is open to folks in the US and internationally; international participants are responsible for their own shipping fees).

    Hello there!
I'm now following Shelter on Instagram and on Facebook.
Well, I'm always go around with a backback (except on Saturday nights): when I go to work, when I go out with the dog… Because I usually bring with me a lot of stuff: a bottle of water for me (or the dog), my Moleskine to take notes and update my agenda, a lunch-pot when I go to the office, a book to read when I'm on the bus or the train, pencils and pens to write when I'm inspired, and often also my DSLR.
    That's a lot of things! πŸ˜€

I'm now following on instagram and facebook and oh, this bag is stunning; I think is exactly what I've been looking for. My trusty old bag gave up the ghost a month or so ago {I, too, am monogamous when it comes to bags πŸ™‚ } and instead of rushing out to buy the first replacement I see, I've been waiting for the right bag – and using an old tote bag in the interim. If I were to win, this bag would carry my everyday things: wallet, a book & notebook, phone, keys, wipes, my toddler's epiPens, and a motley assortment of matchbox cars, stickers, and board books. πŸ™‚

I haven't seen quite the right one and then you post this and I know it's the one! I am returning to grad school and want a bag that I can wear cross body and that has a handle for carrying. Inside will be all of the grad school/life essentials: notepad, laptop, textbook, wallet, sunglasses, phone and keys. Really like this bag A LOT! Torn between the pink ikat and teal, but the ikat design is calling me. Thanks for the post and the opportunity.

I love Shelter bags, they're just so beautiful. My own monogamous relationship with my favourite handbag just ended when the clasp broke so this competition has come at just the right moment. If I won this bag it would carry my phone, wallet, ipod, diary, notebook, pens, various snacks, water & sometimes a camera or a book.

I'm the same as you – one sturdy leather bag for the essentials to take with me, that's all I need. But lately I have been noticing that shoulder bag is getting too small. Sure, it's perfect to store my phone, wallet, keys and a book in, but what about my camera, laptop, and mail that needs to be send off? Lunch, snacks and a water bottle? It's time to have a bag that's big enough to store my everyday needs in. I hope the Prickley Mountain Bag will be the one. β™‘

I'm following on Facebook as well as Instagram (@funeral). Thank you and SHELTER!

Oh wow! I've been looking for a new cross shoulder bag for a while now — going on nearly 7 years with the one I've got now. This bag would be perfect for my usual — a book, wallet, a notebook (or two), 5 or 6 pens (that I can never find), and a few random things that get forgotten at the bottom of the bag…

Might just have to get me one of these beauts!

  • Reply Molly May 22, 2013 at 2:15 pm

What a great pop of color on that bag! Its uniqueness makes me feel like it should be used during creative strolls, so I'd toss in a pretty notebook, some pens, and some carmex since all of my bags seem to wind up with a tub of carmex in them. Also, Shelter's instagram feed makes me have a hankering for some blue mountains.

I'm a bag monogamist as well but I've been relying on not-so-suitable tote bags now that I'm in school again. It would certainly make a much better impression when I go to my internship and jobs!

  • Reply Kate May 22, 2013 at 2:32 pm

    OMG I love Shelter bags!!!

I'm a monogamist, too. I've used the same bag almost every day for over 4 years.. I even got the same one in red (the original is brown) so I can vary a little, but somehow I always end up using the brown one. The only downside is that it doesn't fit my new MacBook Air, so that's why I would be more than happy to transition into the Prickley Mountain Bag. It would also carry my wallet, phone, altoids and most importantly my sketchbook πŸ™‚ All their bags are gorgeous and so well made, having one would be amazing. Thanks!

I love this bag! I tend to use the same bag everyday until it gives out (even then I still milk every last day out of it). I've been living a life in the country, lately, so I'm pretty practical when it comes to what I carry in my bag. Some essentials include: camera, iPhone, swiss army knife, bandaids, lip gloss, water, a snack, dog cookies, a good book (right now it's The Paris Wife), a scarf or cardigan, raincoat… if i'm travelling, I'm usually carrying either my iPad or MacBook. Wow, how lovely!. I would love to carry around my books and lunch when I ride my bike to work. Seems like there would also be space to pick a couple things up at the grocery on the way home. This bag is truly a wonderful piece with amazing craftsmanship. I would very much enjoy being the owner of this bag.
