1. this little thistle.
{and the others. because they’ve stayed perky all week long}.
2. this book.
{because it arrived in a care package from france this weekend and i can’t get enough of it. so great}.
3. this jar of fancy sugar.
4. this toilet paper holder.
{because it’s basically impossible to find a nice holder for your roll. driftwood and twine and two screws later we finally have something serviceable}.
5. this czech postcard.
{because it resurfaced this week and was just the thing to hide a gaping hole in the bathroom wall}.
other things:
this creative and awesome blog.
this thoughtful article.
this film. (we just rented it from netflix).
this documentary, which just got nominated for an oscar. (+ my awesome sister ran the screenings campaign).
currently tempted by this dress. but i never wear green.

oh, that book. It looks amazing, I'd love to buy a copy.
xo, Maria
So you made the toilet paper holder? That's such a great idea. We have been desperate to find something serviceable and stylish for our powder room! Thanks for the inspiration. Love love love this series so much. Did you collect those sugars? I've been wanting to get some cubes for ages, but these are much more cheery! Have a happy weekend!
Thanks Beth (and everyone!) for the toilet paper roll love! Happy to report that it's holding up very well! xo.
That toilet paper roll is awesome 😉
What will you do with all that sugar?! I'm afraid I'd just eat it as is.
You know, one in a latte here, another there!
Innovative roll holder! Have a great weekend!
loving the TP holder! keep us updated on how it works out for ya… like if the driftwood falls outta the twine or something..
Thanks for the link to the G&G article about Wendell Berry. What an inspiration.
Glad you thought so, too!
That picture of the sugar is so cute!

i love thistles! happy weekend!
Me too! Tough and delicate, both at the same time!
somehow your week looks quite poetic, in a very fresh and light way. and you're right, it is almost impossible to find a nicely designed roll holder. yours is beautifully simple.
Love the book and toilet paper holder!
Have a great weekend!
Not to be an enabler, but I think there's a case to be made that one garment in a "color you never wear" can actually be a really good purchase. You might discover that actually, that color goes with a lot of colors that you do wear frequently, and the new combinations make the clothes you already own feel fresh and new. (Case in point: the tomato-red cardigan I bought last summer–a color I never wear and, you guessed it, an item I wore constantly.) One might even say it's a very space-efficient way to get a whole new wardrobe for the new year. (Okay, yeah, now I'm just enabling…)
Totally enabling 😉
Not just anyone can make toilet paper look pretty. The sugar is lovely…curious about where it is from…
It's from a little online sugar shop! Link above!
I love your toilet paper holder! So cute!
What a creative babe you are.
Thankye.
I'm surprised you don't wear green since it's obviously a colour of nature, and given your love of plants…well you can see where I'm going with this 🙂
Have a lovely weekend Erin.
Beautiful little thistle, and sweet book. 🙂
That sugar! There are no words for how adorable I find that sugar, and how weird I find it that I'm finding sugar adorable haha xxx
That sugar looks so sweet (I say that tongue in cheek of course ;). I also adore that flower illustration you have on the wall. What tape do you use to hang your art? I want to find something that won't ruin the paper but I can't use nails in my little home.

Just a little bit of washi tape! It's not completely tear proof for paper, but it doesn't leave marks on the wall!
Pretty fancy sugars! And I love the toilet paper roll holder. So cute and natural and simple.

I love the Czech postcard and not only because I am Czech….it's really pretty!!!!!
I love it, too! Wish I had brought home a whole stack of them!
BTW I don't know it they told you, but it says: Flower speaks…questions and answers (loosely translated)
Lucie
that is the cutest toilet paper roll i've ever seen! Happy Monday.
Ha, being Czech I also like the card with the language of flowers!
Love that postcard!
