my week in objects (mostly).

February 20, 2009
five little things that made my week:

1. staedtler erasers and number two pencils (two in one).

{because when you have to erase and rewrite countless numbers of folders that had been labeled incorrectly, having the right tools makes it a little less painful.  and because our elementary school teachers were right, number twos really are better}

2. a postcard from mom from texas.
DSCN5060
{because i love my mom. and postcards.}

3. my little french press.
 frenchpress
{because twice it saved me from spending money on coffee at an overpriced cafe. (twice it didn’t. tant pis.) and it reminds me of my dad. i like my family.}

4. my new little brown vintage belt.
belt
{cause it’s just what i needed.}

5. my answering machine.
answeringmachine
{because usually i hate it, but this week it saved a nice message, and then blurted it loudly for the world to hear. (sorry, neighbors)}

{and james. because he cleaned out the fridge.}

{also: echinacea tea and leftovers.}

what little something made your week better?

    Whenever the cat does something he is not supposed to do (like walk over the stove), I tell him that he is in trouble and that I will soon make him into a cat casserole.

    Yesterday morning, he crawled into an empty (clean) baking pan on top of the stove and settled in for a nap. I did not even care that he went on the stove or that I had to re-wash the pan. It was just too funny.

    This week I got a handmade mushroom in the mail, and my boyfriend sent me a letter in the mail (he had the flu and I hadn’t heard from him in 2 weeks and I don’t have a phone).
    And the sun shining brightly every morning in my room.

    this blog is lovely, erin! it was nice to find it today after reading a bunch of gripey grad school emails, {sigh}. earlier this evening brian and i went and bought ourselves a mattress, to be delivered tomorrow. (i separated my shoulder and tore my rotator cuff last summer, and sleeping on a worn out, hand-me-down mattress has been especially bad.) i can’t wait. i got so excited that i also bought a new, white fluffy comforter and sky blue egyptian cotton sheets. after it is delivered, i think i might just dress the bed and stay in it all day.
