my weekend brought me more fresh corn (yet uneaten, but soon to be devoured), the season’s first watermelon, grilled eggplant, drinks on a pier with friends, crashing nighttime waves, and lots of waiting on tables. what did your weekend bring you?

I was just thinking about how I wanted a big slice of watermelon!

Our weekend was filled with a delightful final weekend in Spain where we enjoyed limon helado and pitchers of sangria under the stars.

LOVE fresh corn and watermelon! What fun things. Just the idea of these summery eatables fills me with the excitement of the season! I was lucky enough to visit my friend's house on Martha's Vineyard where I experienced that perfect sound of waves crashing on the shore. Nothing like it!

I haven't picked up any fresh corn yet this season, but I just came across this amazing recipe for grilled corn with a smokey maple glaze:

My weekend was quiet and slow, just the way I like it πŸ™‚

Echinacea flowers are soooo sweet aren't they. I have three plants in and spent some time on the weekend trying to drain the garden beds. It's been so wet and there's more rain to come.

I would not have turned away fresh corn or watermelon, but instead Santa Cruz supplied me with good coffee (Santa Cruz News Cafe), cute & lazy otters (found on long beach walks), and cold microbrews (Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing)… i have no complaints.
