as the months before our big move have turned into mere weeks, i’ve been thinking about ways that we might make our new (as yet unfound) apartment in providence our home. i’ve been daydreaming a lot about creating an office nook for myself, and think that i would very much like to house my collection of books in an assortment of vintage crates. i’ve found these on etsy and think that any of them would do quite nicely. i love the idea of having different textures and depths all in one space. {this way i can organize my books according to height and width}! what do you think?

I LOVE this idea, Erin. It'll give your home such a homey feel. Can't wait to see the end result!
I love it too! I have several old crates I use in sewing space and love the look. Go for it 🙂
The textures, shape and history will add so much, clever idea.
oh nice finds. these are great storage options for just about anything.
We might be soul mates? I've started collecting these as well. I only have two so far but I am looking to acquire more. One is a catchall on the coffee table for remotes, magazines and assorted junk. The other is being used to house our shoes that get taken off upstairs and never quite make downstairs to the closest. The only problem is this is usually all of our shoes so we need about 6 crates to properly do this job. Oh, and my BF wears a size 14 so each crate holds about two pairs of his canoe-like footwear.
We have a bunch of those and I love them. So nice for organizing tons of things and they are aesthetically pleasing too. I love it! xoxo
I think those crates are fabulous for storage! Perfect for a home office.
awesome idea! you're moving to providence, ri?!
Vintage crates, yes yes! Someday when I get my books out of storage I want to arrange them by colour. That might look neat 🙂
exciting you're moving to providence. i've heard good things about it and have added it to my list of places i would live. and the boxes is a genius idea.

Ah! you're moving to providence?! i'm so excited! my boyfriend and i were just in boston and we were thinking of relocating.. it is a lovely lovely area!
hooray!!
i need some of those crates by the way (!)
haha
if only my books would fit in these crates! they seem to be taking over my house…
such a perfect idea for adding a little creativity to the standard "office" look. i think it will add wonderful warmth!
Great idea! I have an old Pepsi box that I'll never part with. I also recently spray painted a large produce crate a high-gloss chocolate brown and am using it as an end-table.
When I was a kid, my parents owned a bakery in a super-market. They would bring home old crates from the produce dept and I'd stack them up and make a Barbie mansion. I was embarrassed by it, but my friends thought it rocked. In hind-sight… it did rock!
