as the months before our big move have turned into mere weeks, i’ve been thinking about ways that we might make our new (as yet unfound) apartment in providence our home. i’ve been daydreaming a lot about creating an office nook for myself, and think that i would very much like to house my collection of books in an assortment of vintage crates. i’ve found these on etsy and think that any of them would do quite nicely. i love the idea of having different textures and depths all in one space. {this way i can organize my books according to height and width}! what do you think?

We might be soul mates? I've started collecting these as well. I only have two so far but I am looking to acquire more. One is a catchall on the coffee table for remotes, magazines and assorted junk. The other is being used to house our shoes that get taken off upstairs and never quite make downstairs to the closest. The only problem is this is usually all of our shoes so we need about 6 crates to properly do this job. Oh, and my BF wears a size 14 so each crate holds about two pairs of his canoe-like footwear.

Vintage crates, yes yes! Someday when I get my books out of storage I want to arrange them by colour. That might look neat 🙂

Great idea! I have an old Pepsi box that I'll never part with. I also recently spray painted a large produce crate a high-gloss chocolate brown and am using it as an end-table.

When I was a kid, my parents owned a bakery in a super-market. They would bring home old crates from the produce dept and I'd stack them up and make a Barbie mansion. I was embarrassed by it, but my friends thought it rocked. In hind-sight… it did rock!
