my week in objects (mostly).

December 4, 2009
five little things that made my week.

1. this espresso maker.espresso
{because it was james’s grandma’s and sometimes a girl needs a little boost. especially at the end of a semester}.

2. this candy cane.candycane
{because i found it in my mailbox at school, a little gift from my ‘december buddy’}.

3. this mixer.mixer
{because it was james’s moms. and it’s so darn useful. and because apparently it’s heirloom kitchen appliance week chez moi}.

4. these mittens.mittens
{because they once were lost but now are found. and they keep my hands from freezing to my bike brakes}.

5. these scraps.scraps
{because they look just like a little nest. and i couldn’t stand to throw them away}.

*and you dear readers, because you keep coming back even when i am swimming in a sea of 19th century deeds and 21st century powerpoint presentations and have hardly a moment to visit your sweet sites. someday soon, i promise.

in the meantime, what little something made your week?

What a great week! What made my week was being volunteer lawyer of the day.

My dad has the same KitcheAid and he pulls together some tasty treats with it, so it seems you've scored! Also, I adore the sweet accidental nest.

My week was made by our indoor picnic last night. I was inspired by the photo of the farmer's lunch in this recent Maira Kalman NY Times piece. http://kalman.blogs.nytimes.com/2009/11/26/back-to-the-land/

    Stay warm!

Did I ever mention how much I love your blog? I love all your pictures and how you find the beauty of everyday things. That's so cool you have a 'December buddy'! Good luck on all your finals and/or whatever your deadlines are due! I should probably get to mine soon instead of blogging.

I just love that you find time to update your blog to inspire us to appreciate all the little things that make our days!
We are having a massive snow storm so I am appreciating my flannel pjs and fuzzy socks at the moment along with my cute Starbucks tea cups which I set out for Christmas. Also, a fresh new fine point sharpie to begin my Christmas cards and some cute stickers just made my week! I also got many hugs from my students this week – and they are teenagers – I love them so! Happy Weekend!

I love your mittens! There is nothing like finding an old pair—or anything cozy, for that matter—when you think it's lost.
