my week in objects.

October 17, 2010

five little things that made my week. a little late, but here all the same.

1. this bag of cranberries.
cranberry bag {as if you couldn’t tell already}.

2. these wildflowers.
wildflower {from my mom’s wildflower garden and still blooming in october}.

3. this wallpapered drawer.
cabinet {because mildred wallpapered it. so carefully. in 1960. more from her apartment, soon}.

4. these pizzas.
motorino {because no one does it like motorino. word to the wise: if someone offers you brussel sprout pizza, scream yes. i ate fully half myself}.

5. this cloak.
cloak {because even though it’s not my own, i wore it all weekend and wouldn’t mind at all having one of my own}.

I love the glimpse of your cloak, and those cranberries look delicious! I've never tasted a fresh cranberry.. I've only ever seen dried cranberries in England.

I love the idea of these week in objects posts! I've started a series called something from the weekend in the last month or so and it's a similar idea, making sure I take photos about the weekend and post them up. I think as creative souls this kind of post keeps us on our toes, for me especially it makes sure I'm not just taking shots that are completely set up still life ones, it makes me think about creating a beautiful image out of an ordinary thing like the lovely pizza and cranberry shots you have up here. Sorry for gushing lol, I just really like this idea and am glad I stopped by your blog šŸ™‚

caitlin d.: unfortunately we'd have to be very lucky to find the same cape. it's vintage dior and was owned by the mother of one of my mom's dear friends. she was a hollywood starlet in the 40s, (she even won an academy for this little number: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J8NInYPgofI) but i'd be lying to say it feels anything less than fabulous to walk the streets in her old cloak. i'm on the lookout for one of my own. happy hunting for something similar!

the boots are more attainable, though if you're like me, you'll have to save a lot of pennies.

    brussel sprout pizza? heaven-sent.

I've been thinking of you a lot lately because there's this object running my life right now (making my week weeks in a row, if you will): a 3×5 metal card file, like a recipe box. It used to belong to Simon's mom. Now it's housing nearly 400 cards, each a book for my field exams next week.
