bread and butter.

toast

I’m having one of those contemplative mornings, when even a slice of buttery toast feels like something worthy of a ponder. I spent the weekend away in a different city and something about the jostle of time and space shook things up a bit for me. There’s something about being in a train with the world whizzing past that primes my mind for reflection–choices, habits, trajectories–they all get a little time in the limelight of my thoughts. This morning, my mind is still racing. In a good way.

but, really, aren't those the best sorts of thoughts? the kind that come over things so simple and seemingly mundane as bread and butter? i think i like those most of all.

Toast. I've had an entire life changing, mind-shift during the act of eating a piece of toast. It was the best darn piece of toast of my life. That moment also brought me back to earth. Take all the time you need with it. Those moments are much needed. Cheers.

ding, dong … it's my husband who loves toast :), especially made with rye bread or whiskey down as they call it diners. he eats it everyday and it does make one slow down a bit to think about new things.

firstly, delicious. secondly, I love it when my mind is quiet enough to give thanks for the 'bread and butter' moments.
