I know there are a lot of folks out there who could really rather do without Valentine’s Day. February rolls around and I begin to hear sighs about the hype of what’s essentially a commercial holiday.
Well.
I won’t deny that the consumer push around this holiday borders on outrageous, but I will say that a wholesale disregard for the day also seems sad. What could be better than a day devoted to sending little messages of love? I say that we all take a lesson from our friends in kindergarden and get crafting.
Here is an assortment of things that you could purchase–and some you likely already own–to get you in the spirit. A valentine can be made with a few snips of a scissor and a few strokes of a pen and it doesn’t take much money or extravagance to do into that.

Oh I agree! I've been crafting lately too for this pseudo holiday š So much love talk happening, I can't help but get in the spirit too!
I'm not big on V-day, we never celebrate it on the day of! We did our main v-day date in January! Ha! Anyhow – I love the little heart garland, even if just for year round use!
I always say I wont get sucked in on Valentines day… I just can't help it. Everything's so cutesy & tempting. Some lovely bits you've chosen, I'm a big fan of the bakers twine. Such a staple all year round š

I'm going to be out of town and am planning to hide a valentine for my wife. Or probably I'll just use the good old fashioned USPS.
The friends in Kindergarten sentence made me chuckle. I worked for a school district as an after school teacher for day care, and what you said brought back some fun memories for me. They did like their crafts!
Love the twine!
I've never been a huge fan of Vday but now that I have a 15 month old running around I can't help but get suckered into the holiday and want to do crafts with him (even if he winds up trying to put everything in his mouth).

You totally inspired me with this post! I spent this weekend (snow-bound, power outage) making homemade valentines (with Mr. Ellie Pooh red paper left over from my wedding and some heart-shaped paper doilies I've had for ages) and duct tape roses (who says men can't get flowers, too!) for my husband. š
