It’s a good time of year, this one we’re in right now. It’s not the midsummer of the summer equinox, but the midsummer that means it’s the beginning of August and fully half the summer is still before us. The best half, if you ask me. The one with peaches and tomatoes and late afternoon thunderstorms. Let’s agree to not wish it away.
I had drinks with two new friends last night. I learned what Mezcal tastes like. I vowed never to drink it again. There were string lights and love stories. Life is good off the internet.
When I was home a few weeks ago, I styled this tabletop for Gardenista. Queen Anne’s lace and still green apples and all the pretty things I could round up from my mom and dad’s house. I’d love if you took a look at the full story.
I’d love it more if you created a little midsummer tabletop of your own and raised a toast to the idea that summer’s not over. Not nearly. Prost!, etc.
It's a beautiful table top. I agree- let's not wish August away.
Local peaches just became ripe so there will be plenty of picking this weekend!! Maybe Friday just to get the weekend started early!! Lots to do still so Summer needs to stay until I can make progress on the to do list.
Make the new chicken coop from the kids' old play structure (so glad we procrastinated in getting rid of it), a new backyard fence and more sanding/then painting of the wrought iron patio table/chairs I purchased last Summer from a garage sale. Looking forward to more evening meals and chicken watching on the freshly dressed set.
Loving the beautiful table setting~ Thanks for the pics and call for Summer to keep going strong!!!
this tabletop is gorgeous, a wonderful style. queen annes lace was a lovely choice! and i agree, life with string lights and love stories off of the internet is good.
This is such a timely reminder. I hit the beginning of August and equate it with the beginning of September and the end of summer. I think it's because August always seems to go so fast with end of summer trips and moves. But you're right, we still have half the summer left! I'll definitely toast to my favorite half of summer.
as a person who waits all year for summer, this post was a challenge in the best way. Now that August has begun, I've started-up with already missing the summer season (even before it's gone!) And, you're right, the best is yet to be. bring on the raspberries and dahlias!
p.s. that garland is so great.
oooh i totally agree, the best half is here. Let's allow it to slow down and appreciate with lots of entertaining and late dinners and cocktails. That table is gorgeous. Life is good off the internet, and then it's good when you come back and share it with us 🙂
Such a gorgeous setting!
I grew up maybe five minutes from Bauer Farm! I used to think that, if I ever needed to run away, I would bike down there with a backpack of food and books :). I would have been very happy to find this set-up there.
Love all the flowers on the table! 🙂
Love this table setting 🙂 And I so agree-the end of summer is one of the sweetest times of the year 🙂
Thanks for the reminder. Just this morning I was thinking that summer is nearly over. And the table-scape is beautiful!
This is so gorgeous.
Still can't believe it's already August. Haven't crossed a single thing off my summer bucket list…
The top photo made me catch my breath. August is so lovely.
feel free to visit and follow my blog 🙂 http://tjfseries.blogspot.com
Today I bought some napkins that look quite similar to these ones! Lovely pictures 🙂 Why did you not enjoy mezcal? I live in Mexico City and I like it so much more than tequila. Here you can sometimes get mezcal sorbets at the markets, it's refreshing and sweet.
