snowe: a home essentials giveaway

The days are getting shorter. There are no two ways about it. 6:30 pm and I find myself scurrying home, lighting candles, turning on the oven. Roasted vegetables are back on the rotation. (And so are chocolate chip cookies.) Just the other day James and I started to muse about hosting a hot cider party. ‘Tis the season, afterall.

In hosting gatherings of any stripe, it’s useful to have some hardworking items for serving. Things like plates and bowls and mugs for the cider. Whenever people write to me with recommendations for dinnerware, my answer is the same: Keep it simple. A plain white plate can be dressed up or down and it always lets the food play the starring role. It won’t go out of fashion. It’ll never clash with the tablecloth. When it’s time to pass the collection on to children headed into their own first homes, no one will look askance at a collection of white plates.

The folks at Snowe agree. They say: “Sometimes the cliché gets it right. In design and in life, simplicity drives the best experiences.” Snowe is a brand new home essentials brand bringing high quality home goods direct-to-consumers. Attention to detail, quality of craftsmanship, and luxury goods at attainable prices are tenets of their brand. From product design to packaging these guys have innovated a collection of home essentials that makes sense.

Overwhelmed with the choices on offer, the founders—a couple who know first hand the business of making a home together—decided to fill a void with thoughtful, carefully sourced, and simple home essentials in four categories: eat, drink, sleep, and bathe. With Snowe there’s no hemming and hawing over barely perceptible differences in product design. Nothing too fussy. Nothing extraneous. Everything well made.

I recently had the chance to take a look at their entire collection and their white dinnerware struck a particular chord with me. It’s classic, elegant but still sturdy, and if you care about this sort of thing (and I do) it comes wrapped up in some of the nicest—and entirely recyclable—packaging I’ve seen. (No packing peanuts or bubble wrap in sight.) snowe giveaway reading my tea leaves
To kick off the season of giving (and eating!) Snowe will be randomly selecting two RMTL winners to take home a 16-piece Dinnerware Setting. Each sets includes four place settings of dinner plate, salad plate, bowl, and mug. Like all of their dinnerware, the set is made in Portugal from Limoges porcelain imported from France.

For a chance to win a Dinnerware Setting of your own, sign up for the Snowe newsletter by entering your email address into the giveaway form embedded below.
You’ll be able to unlock bonus entries upon entering your email. The giveaway will close on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 11:59 pm ET. Winners will be contacted directly. This giveaway is open to US readers only.

This post is one in a series of giveaways I have planned to celebrate the season of plenty, and family, and gift giving. This post was sponsored by Snowe. Thanks so much for supporting the brands that support Reading My Tea Leaves.

dinnerware is perfect…flatware and glassware equally so!

erin, an unrelated question…love your new site design and have just suggested your blog to two friends. when i discovered your blog, i began by reading it from your beginning by using the dated archive. is there a way for my friends to do the same on your new site? we cannot figure it out, but then we are all three quite tech-challenged. so, if this is a ridiculous question, i apologize. thanks so much and please keep your beautiful prose and sensible and lovely philosophy coming.

    looking forward to your book…

Oh my goodness. You guys are so cute! I took off the archive feature, but you can find an individual post and then click “newer” (or “older”) post to read straight through. The very first post is here: https://readingmytealeaves.com/2009/01/out-of-obscurity.html. The teeny tiny photos are currently getting stretched in a weird way in the new design. We’re working on it!

I’ve been looking to replace my chipped, mis-matched partial set of dishes I got a Goodwill. It’s ridiculous how many options there are for simple white dishes- this company seems to be doing it right tho, actually simple!

“When it’s time to pass the collection on to children headed into their own first homes, no one will look askance at a collection of white plates.”

So true! My daughter and her husband are using his mom’s pure white Dansk dishes that she and her husband acquired 30 plus years ago. (The mugs are my favorite: similar to the Snowe mugs you picture.) They look just as good to my eye now as they did three decades ago. O.K. Make that four or five decades ago. 🙂

Meanwhile, my son recently passed on his (much less expensive) 12-year-old first-apartment white dishes to his brother-in-law.

I recently ordered the Snowe dinner plates and was very impressed by the quality! It’s difficult to find affordable and edited home goods. I love that the products are made in quality factories.

We just bought our first home, and these would be so, so great to have; especially since we are hosting Thanksgiving this year!

I always love your recommendations, and look forward to checking out their dishwares!

How uncanny…my husband just said to me the other day, we need new plates. While ours have lasted from our wedding gift almost two decades…they have taken a beating. Love Stowe’s site…they got it right the eat drink bath and sleep part–can’t get more fundamental than that. Happy eating, drinking bathing and sleeping all!
