the simple matters series.

chelsea fuss simple matters reading my tea leavesA quick note to whet your appetite for a new series that I’ve been working on this fall. While I was writing my book last winter, I spent a lot of time thinking about why simplicity mattered to me. And why it mattered to other people.

Coming this fall, a series of interviews with people who have made a choice to live more simply. Some of these folks have sold off all of their worldly posessions and traded the security of house and home for the adventure of travel. Others have stayed put exactly where they are, even as their families have grown and circumstances changed. These are the stories of families with young children and the stories of couples and single adults without any children at all. There are city folk. And country folk. And somewhere-in-between folk.

I’ve started the series by reaching out mostly to people who I know through my own work in this space. I’ll be working through this list first, but I’m hoping that this series will continue to grow and expand beyond my own sphere. If you have a story that you think might be a fit, please don’t hesitate to send a note to [email protected]

More very soon.

This sounds great. I hope there will be lots of photos of their spaces. It’s sometimes hard to visualize what people are talking about, otherwise. And your photos are always fabulous.

I am really looking forward to your simple series. Over the last year we have downsized from a 2,000 square foot home to a 400 square foot RV. We have sold everything that we didn’t need in the RV and just sold the house. “Homeless” and loving it! We are traveling the U.S. (Currently) while I work as a travel physical therapist! It has been such a fun journey and I love to read about how others have simplified their lives!

As someone who lives in a 400 square foot, off-grid cabin in Alaska, I am also looking forward to seeing how others have approached simplifying their lives.

After our short stint in a 400 square feet space, I have to applaud you. I’ve discovered that although I like simplicity, 400 square feet is just too small for me, and I think I’m okay with that. As I make my life in a bigger space, I still plan to live simply and not in excess. Thank you for continuing to be an inspiration.

I am SO looking forward to this. Hoping one of these stories will inspire me to finally leave corporate America! Would be great to know how people make a living while living more simply and traveling, etc…

What a great series! I’m looking forward to being inspired. My husband and I just sold our second car, making us a one-car family in a car-centric city…I will need inspiration/encouragement while we adjust!
