my week in objects (mostly).

April 8, 2016

five little things that made my week.

1. this quilt.

{for being the perfect lightweight blanket for layering on top of our cotton blanket on cold nights and for layering on top of our sheets on hot ones.}

2. this cup of tea.

{okay, and the roses. and the company.}

3. these sticks.

{because i’ve been hoping to find a bundle of palo santo locally for weeks. and this week, i did. here!}

4. this daffodil stamp.

{because i can’t ever not get the flower stamps.}

5. this wheat grass.

dirt + health= the prescription.

so sad that these don’t come in my size.

nude shoes.

    Greetings from Santa Cruz! That palo santo bundle looks like one I picked up in Ojai recently. It was a motel check-in gift, paired with a branded matchbook, and new to me. I didn’t burn it. It’s sitting on my mantle as a sweet-smelling souvenir of a lovely southern CA weekend. Your blog is such a happy place to go. Until I read your latest interview on Clementine Daily, I hadn’t realized that Friday’s Week in Objects was born from an appreciation for the stuff you have– so inspiring. Hope you get back to CA soon, your photos and cheer were so inspiring.

      Please elaborate. What exactly is palo santo and what is it used for?

    I’ve been reading your blog for a couple years now, but never commented (never really got the commenting thing down in 10 years of blog-following…). I love your “My Week in Objects,” and have even considered stealing the concept from you, although that would be wrong. But I, too, take great joy in those objects that I love, and think they are worth celebrating, even if my boyfriend thinks I’m crazy. Minimalist materialist, a confusing place to be.

    I also appreciate that your link round-up is manageable, and always worth reading. Thanks for sharing your inspiration with us! I’m glad you’ve had such success with your beautiful book and blog.

    This article about the differences in the nude shoes? Not only is that important, but the photographs are so, so, so beautiful.

    That quilt might just be the perfect shade of blue. Great find!

    Must stop sending my husband to the post office, and go myself. Maybe, that way, I can get flower stamps instead of always being presented with dinosaur stamps, or similar.

    Also, how did you manage to get your double-size headboard to fit your new queen-size bed, if you don’t mind my asking?

    • Reply Erin Boyle April 8, 2016 at 8:35 pm

      Ha! We don’t! It’s an antique so it actually doesn’t fit a double or queen bed frame perfectly without an adapter, but we’ve never actually used one! It’s just pushed against the wall!

    man, i’m living that cotton-blanket life, but winters up h ere are kicking my tail! our gas bill is so high we have to keep it 58 or 60F at night, and that means so many more layers on the bed. 🙁

    I’ve also consistently seen palo santo and sage too at Annie’s Blue Ribbon in Park Slope. Reminds me I need to pick some up!
