five little things that made my week.
1. this little yogurt jar.
{and those lil’ guys for hanging on.}
{because it’s warmed up again around here. also, twinsies.}
3. this butter.
{because it’s at room temp and just right for smearing.}
4. these watercolors.
{because the progress is slo-o-o-w, but i don’t mind.}
5. these stairs.
{and faye for mastering them.}
other things:
don’t write drunk or do & other bits of advice.
yes to all of this. (thank you, ashley.)
me in other places:
chatting on a (virtual) yellow couch.

Erin, a few months ago I’d never heard of you (sorry!). Then I discovered your book, and from there, your blog, which is now my total favorite.* Keep up the great work — glad you’re enjoying such a magical vacation!
* Of course, you’ve also introduced me to Elizabeth Suzann, which is getting rather spendy… but hey, why not??!
My writing flows better after a glass of wine 🙂 But I definitely edit sober.
I know you closed comments on yesterday’s post, but I wanted to just take a minute and say, thank you. I come to your blog a lot and your posts have really helped me stay focused on living more simple, but yesterday was great to read. I am glad I am not alone in the blogging world on how I feel. Sorry to bleed this over to another post, but seriously, thanks for speaking up.
oooh i use a french butter bell to keep butter softened but fresh. 🙂
Any recommendations on breaking in the baby Saltwaters? I have little twins, and could only find one used pair in the right size. Compared to the previously loved shoes, the new leather seems so rigid and like its going to cause lots of blisters on their soft baby skin!
This is our second pair and we haven’t had any trouble with blisters at all–even when Faye was still learning how to walk last summer! Good luck!
Could you put a link to the watercolors you use?
Would if I could! I found mine in a local art supply store and haven’t been able to find an online source. They’re Lukas paints in case that helps your search!
Saltwater recommends wearing them wet the first time so they form to your foot. This has always worked for us:)
Love those sweet little sandals. 😉
As a small bottle collector, have you been to Dead Horse Bay in Brooklyn? It was one of my favorite things to do in NYC. The beach is covered in vintage glass bottles. A bit grimy, and definitely not for the kiddos, there’s a treasure trove of beauty if you’re willing to wear your shit kickers and rubber gloves.
Haven’t been!
