tradlands | reading my tea leaves
This post is sponsored by Tradlands, a women’s clothing brand specializing in button-up shirts made in the USA.

It’s a conundrum: your favorite worn-in button-up is just right for most occasions and just wrong for others. On a ninety-degree day in New York, I’ll admit that a trusty button-up is usually the last article of clothing I’ll reach for. But when the sleeves get lopped off? When the fabric’s swapped for something lightweight and breathable? Tune changed; a button-up’ll do.

Tradlands introduced three variations on their classic button-ups this summer and I’m helping to show them off. Among the recently launched basics, there’s a sleeveless option for sweltering days; a short-sleeved version for warm days, and a tunic-length option for days when you wanna cover your bum with your shirt. My words, of course, not theirs.tradlands | reading my tea leaves

The Birch is a white sleeveless button-up made from 100% Organic cotton poplin. It’s crisp and easy to wear; a polished shirt for days when you’re sweating bullets but still want to look put together.

tradlands | reading my tea leavesThe short-sleeved Maggie Cameo is simultaneously sophisticated and relaxed in high-quality mid-weight linen. I love the oatmeal color. Perfect for eating cherries on your neighbors’ stoop, if you ask me. Like all Tradlands shirts, the magic is in the details and I love the thick pearlized buttons on this one.tradlands | reading my tea leaves

The dark grey Herriot is a tunic length long-sleeved button-up made from super-soft Tencel. (For the curious: Tencel is made from cellulose fibers. But unlike similar bamboo or rayon fabrics, Tencel is manufactured in a closed-loop system which means the solvents that make wood pulp into wearable fabric get reused instead of dumped into the local environment).tradlands | reading my tea leaves

The tunic is the perfect length to serve as a cover-up at the beach or to provide an additional lightweight layer for those blessed summer nights that cool off a bit after the sun goes down. Never been better for novice skateboarders practicing their moves after work. tradlands | reading my tea leaves

The Herriot’s linen sister, the Martha Indigo, is for linen lovers. It’s the perfect thing to pack in a picnic bag for movies in the park (where, I’ll admit, I am always freezing as soon as the sun goes down). tradlands | reading my tea leaves

Curious about the short-sleeved shirt… where does it hit on the waist? It’s tucked in on the Tradlands site and can’t really tell here either.

It’s a similar fit to the sleeveless shirt—a slightly longer cut, perfect for tucking, but not tunic length!

This is likely unrelated to Tradlands, but I have to ask – where are those amazing blue cropped pants featured in the first four snaps from?

Such lovely photos! They truly capture the whimsy and ease of summer. Curious about where you got the delicate gold bracelet–currently in the market but am feeling a little stumped!

Thanks so much! Whitney did such a great job! The bracelet was a gift from my mom—not sure the designer!

You look so good in the outfits you put together. And ‘fashion blogger’ poses do you well, awesome shots !

Tencel seems to look sloppy faster with washes. Or is it just me ?

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 12, 2016 at 10:53 am

Ha: fashion blogger makes me cringe, but thank you!!! Haven’t had the chance to see how the Tencel here will wear, but the Tradlands construction is so impeccable, that I have faith it’ll be just fine!

I have one of their long sleeve tercel shirts – it’s been through many washes and is as good as new.

I’ve been wanting to get a button up from Tradlands, but worried even their 8 buttons won’t eliminate my boob gap! Love the oatmeal linen on you! Is it see through? Did you need a cami underneath or could I get by with a nude bra?

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 12, 2016 at 11:43 am

All I’ve ever heard is that their buttons are a boob gap miracle! Free shipping and returns! Give it a shot! The oatmeal linen is really pretty opaque. I’m wearing a bright white bra and no cami in these shots and you could even see a shadow of my bra.

    • Reply Alexis July 12, 2016 at 2:23 pm

I’m a 36 DDD and have several of their shirts and LOVE them. No boob gap at all.

        So glad to hear it!

Erin, you make such a pretty model! All this photos are so lovely. I’d love to see more outfit posts from you. I’d be sorely tempted by the sleeveless top but I just started a one-year no-shopping experiment (that is, no new clothes or shoes for one year). But I am bookmarking for next summer for sure. I hope they offer it again.

So great! Lots of luck. (And thanks for the kind words.)

Oh, these look so great! I love the look of the Martha Indigo, and how you’ve paired it to still work for summer. Thanks for sharing, Erin!

Wondering where those lovely shorts are from? I’m in need of a new pair!

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 12, 2016 at 4:49 pm

It’s actually a romper; bought at Splendid two summers ago!

  • Reply Caitlin July 12, 2016 at 9:58 pm

Beautiful! What size is the Herriot you are wearing?

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 13, 2016 at 6:39 am

I’m wearing an xxs is all of these shirts.

Random but what kind of skate board are you using? I’m a novice myself (yay for skateboarding moms!) and have no clue what to search for. Yours looks perfect!

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 14, 2016 at 11:34 am

Mine’s an Arbor Board! I spotted it at a local skate shop and then James tracked another one down. They’re made in California! I think mine is the Bug Premium!

I really love your woven bag and have been looking for one like it. Where is that one from? Thank you!

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 15, 2016 at 2:56 pm

Thanks! It’s a french market basket. I got mine years ago at Brook Farm General Store!

  • Reply Lia July 15, 2016 at 10:21 pm

All these looks are so great. I hadn’t heard of Tradlands before.

Am I reading the size charts right? It looks like they vanity-sized to the extreme. A 36 inch chest is a size M at almost all US retailers. But Tradlands is saying that’s an XXS. (As a random benchmark, see Banana Republic or Elizabeth Suzann size charts).

If that sizing is right, they’ve completely sized me (and many other petite women) out of their clothes.

    • Reply Erin Boyle July 18, 2016 at 11:00 am

Can’t say I scrutinized the sizing chart, but I’ve been finding that I fit best in an XXS and my bust size is definitely not a 36. I’d shoot them a note about sizing to see what would work best!

      Hi Lia,
Thanks for your helpful feedback! My apologies if our size chart is unclear. The size guide we provide uses measurements of the shirt itself, with the chest and waist being a circumference. Most customers are the same size in our shirts as they are mostly in other brands or whichever size you find most in your closet. Feel free to send us an email at [email protected] and we will help with all of your sizing questions! Thanks, Lia!
      Cheers,
      Sadie

How are you with school finding? I've a 2+ year old and I'm looking for a preschool nursery for her. Wha9ever&#3t;s good, is too expensive for a SAHM's pocket. Whatever's cheaper, well, the curriculum leaves much to be desired. *sigh* Hope you have better luck than me!

It’s definitely a little tricky. For now, Faye’s still with a sitter most days while James and I work!
