how to know it's may | reading my tea leaves

On top of muddy grass, picnic blankets.

Under skirts, bare legs.

Along the window ledge, birds.

At bedtime, blue skies.

On rooftops, pink wine.

Curbside, treasures.

In new shoes, blisters.how to know it's may | reading my tea leaves

On young minds, wish lists.

In window boxes, radish sprouts.

Under arms, lilac branches.

On toenails, polish.

Under trees, confetti.

On knees, bandaids.

Against steely skies, pink puffs.

Over shoulders, jean jackets.

On noses, sunscreen.

Between fence posts, tulips.

In sandboxes, children.

In sneakers, sandboxes.

Everywhere, puppies.

It’s always nice to see flowers again. That’s the thing about winter: it always looks so gray, so it will be good to have flowers brighten the earth again.

“In sandboxes, children. In sneakers, sandboxes.” I love those two lines. As much as I cringe when it spreads everywhere, I think I’ll be pretty sad when the surprise sand spills from shoes are no longer.
