make-believe: glamping.

glamping | reading my tea leaves

At the end of August we’re packing up a borrowed car and heading up to Maine for a few nights of camping—Grammy, Grandpa, cousins, aunties, and uncles included. We’ll be a motley crew, but there’s always room for daydreaming about campsite that falls a little closer to the glam end of the spectrum.

For keeping cozy on chilly mornings, this henley.

For sleeping in, this pretty tent.

For getting a good night’s sleep, a double sleeping bag plus two minis.

For feeling fancy, a stool/table/night stand.

For staying cozy, punchy socks.

For staying sane, bug repellent.

For blueberry pancakes, a trusty skillet.

For cocoa (and coffee), mugs.

For good night stories, Cloth Lullaby.

To light the way, a solar-powered lantern.

In an effort to ground all of this make-believing in something a bit more down to earth, another place to direct our attention:

Families Belong Together: It’s easy to daydream about pared down, simple living in the great outdoors in the summertime. It’s nightmarish to know that families are being detained in camps in this country and forced to sleep on the ground without blankets or soap or access to basic hygiene. Continuing to support the organizations working at the border is imperative, but no matter where you are, consider helping folks closer to home. Across the country, Community Bail Funds are working to secure the release of parents and families being held in detention and just a little bit of money can go a long way. Indeed, helping to post bail for folks in need is the fastest way to reunite parents and children.

Your IG post reminded me of The Bed Book, Sylvia Plath’s children’s book about imaginative beds! https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/733162.The_Bed_Book

Currently visiting some very special parents-to-be in Brooklyn, so you can bet that this grammy-to-be is fantasizing about future family getaways as well.
