my week in objects (mostly).

September 27, 2019

1. these zinnias.

{and their bendy stems.}

2. this un cover up.

{because my dark circles needed a little love lately. this has helped.}

3. this companion.

{sent from elizabeth and filled with inspiration for my own early risers.}

4. this growing collection.

{just because.}

5. these little rolls of photo paper.

{for giving us unexpected glimpses of what’s happening inside.}

other things:

there’s nothing naive about moral clarity.

tiny life tip.

people of the year.

it’s much easier to blame it on the woman than to think about the policies.

plastic problems.

teaching 6-year-olds about privilege and power.

i’d rather be labelled ideological than mislead the public into complacency.

skipping corned beef shouldn’t feel like a bummer.

i hate sports.

keep bitch in print.

the niceness trap.

    I look forward to this every week. You do such a good job of layering thoughtful and interesting articles along with gems like kale ~pastrami~ sandwiches. Thank you for doing what you do. And thank you to my 9 month old who is actually napping at the moment so I can read a couple articles and drink coffee simultaneously

    Thank you for the linking that article about teaching kids about power and privilege. That teacher is a dear friend of a dear friend of mine and I’ve met him and his sweet family, but I didn’t know that he was famous for his teaching! I wish more teachers would focus on such important topics instead of worrying so much about hurrying kids to read and earn high test scores. Makes me inspired to start more of the difficult conversations with my own 6-year-old, and answer his more challenging questions openly and honestly.

    Love the zinnias. The bendy stems! So cute. I’ve been opting for Eucalyptus leaves for that clean minimal look lately.

    Also interesting links as always 🙂

    Have a beautiful weekend.

    xx

    I wanted to follow up on your post and my comment yesterday. Tonight my 8 year old told me that he finally decided on what to research for his third grade project: climate refugees. It seems these things do sink in.

    The idea of a kale Reuben really piqued my (16 weeks pregnant) interest. Just made ‘em for dinner & was elated. Thanks for sharing it and these other reads!
