my week in objects (mostly).

August 21, 2020

1. this napkin.

{and putting the “special” things into regular rotation.}

2. this tape measure.

{for being my trusty companion.}

3. these plans.

{for being in the works.}

4. this direct-to-metal primer.

{because some things just need to be painted.}

5. this hat.

{for protecting the tiniest head.}

other things:

we gave that all up, often without noticing. and now we have to live with that, until we make it right again.

one measly minute.

america has tackled a child care crisis before.

i’m only one human being.

when i was a grom.

a litany for survival.

a family looks back.

i wanted to wrap us up in wholesome signifiers of normal childhood.

    What a beautiful story about what is really important in life, on the “Romper” page, about signifiers of a normal childhood. I don’t have children but that didn’t prevent me from enjoying it! Well written and evocative.

      I often think of them as peaches, but I think they’re really little blossoms!

    I don’t know if you removed the label on your measuring tape, but as a long time reader I assume you did and I just want to say, I’m here for it!
