gather your supplies.

My love for toolboxes isn’t a secret to anyone who’s been a longtime reader here, but in a brand-new class that’s launching today with Skillshare Audio, I get to wax expert about why these humble keepers of order have been especially helpful in a year when we’re spending so much time at home. We go to doctor’s appointments from our desks and log into conferences from the couch. First grade is taking place largely at our kitchen table. As the place we call home has taken on so many roles at once, we’ve been keeping up with the day’s transitions and transformations with the help of simple toolboxes and supply kits.

In my new class, Skillshare Audio: Simple Steps to Optimize Your Space at Home, I walk listeners through my technique of cultivating calm (or trying to!) by establishing dedicated spaces where supplies can be easily accessed, put away, and moved around depending on particulars of time and space and the people using them.

The class is tailor made for the multi-taskers among us, so you can pop on a pair of headphones and listen to the class while you take an afternoon walk and finish ready to put it to practice.

Along with access to my class, I’m thrilled to be able to offer readers who are new to Skillshare a free 2-week trial of the entire Skillshare Premium catalog. Please spread the word widely and direct friends and family to https://skl.sh/readtealeaves to sign up!

Every time someone signs up for a free-trial with Skillshare or takes one of my classes, Reading My Tea Leaves will earn a small commission that helps fund the continued work in this space. Thank you for your support of this work.

This looks so clever. Does Faye put the doll clothing back? or is it more for you to have somewhere to store everything? I have some systems for organizing my kids toys that I swear are really for my sake…something about putting the objects back in their place at the end of the day is very satisfying. Also those silver doll heels–ouch! my back and feet hurt just looking at them! Barbie needs some Birkenstocks.

she does! this is not to say that every organizational method is this successful, but this was her idea! we painted it together and then she decided how she’d organize it! i think getting older and wanting to make sure small parts don’t get lost was a big motivating factor here!

I had those Barbie pom poms – recognized them immediately as I was scrolling through your past posts! Oh, there is something so special about seeing something you played with in the past so long ago in the wild during contemporary times. It’s more than nostalgia… it’s just the warmest feeling. Need all of those these days. I hope your daughters are loving them as much as I know I did!
