1. these colors.

{and the kid who sleeps with them.}

2. this zoom call.

because even virtual elementary school sing-a-longs will jerk tears.

3. this bag.

{and sending things merrily on their way.}

4. this same old tin.

{for being indestructible.}

5. this other light catcher.

{and the sun to catch in it.}

other things:

they say this isn’t america.

bitter fruits.

how do we find the kernel of shared struggle?

people like her.

mothers of invention.

trust.

by mobs, by coup d’états, by various forms of violent terrorism.
